What is your plan?

Mine is:
Leave Robbs as early as possible
Camp at Buck Friday night
Camp at the springs Saturday night
Drive out through Loon early Sunday morning

UKMyers

I'm doing the same hopefully I'll hook up with you Thur night. I'm pressing on up Cadillac though and out the Tahoe side since I'm not going to have a tow rig.

Ruggedjeep

Ill be doing the same as UK, exiting out cadillac. Im either leaving my tow rig on the tahoe side or driving all the way back around to ice house and loading up.

How many miles is it from the tahoe side to loon.  My plan was start early friday and go all the way to the springs and back out through loon.  I was just curious how long it would take to drive back to loon from the tahoe side.

I'll be there sometime Thurs. night.

UKMyers

I'll be there Thursday night too. I didn't know it was the far between the two roads either. I was considering borrowing a friends trailer and leaving it on the Tahoe side and driving my rig around to Icehouse but I think I'll pass. Hopefully she stays in one piece this trip!

snowshoebrue

what time are you all thinking you will leave the trailhead on Fri.?  I'm gonna try to show up at the trailhead around 9-10am.  Would love to hook up with a few for the ride toward Buck.  My plan is same as MiniSimps,  if I'm not broken and having a great time(DUH), I'm planning on heading back out thru Loon on Sunday, just for the extra fun.

:imwithstupid:

I'm thinking we leave the campground at first light, it would be cool to get to Buck early and have time to kick back and enjoy the scenery for a while.

megolfer, it can take easily 6-8 hours or more to get from Loon to the Springs (I know, the guys that know the trails well can make it faster then that, but it's still like 4-5 hours).
And that is with no one getting stuck or breaking down and blocking the trail. The first year, following Angelo who knew how to navigate the trail, it took us 8 hours.
Last year, with two trail repairs to slow us down, it took us over 12 hours to get there.

Going out Cadillac, around Lake Tahoe (beautiful ride, BTW) and back round on the main roads is a lot faster and easier then going back out Loon.

But as far as us, we won't have a trail rig at Loon so whatever Mark decides he wants to do on the way out is fine with me.

I"m more bummed than ya'll

Finances determine my life and what happens when and how.  It so happens that I don't get paid till that Friday... and I have to go grocery shopping on the way up there.  I won't hit the road till probably 8 after shopping and getting everything organized... then figuring we can go in Tahoe with less stress.  :dunno: But the plan is *tentatively* to go in the Tahoe side and meet everyone at the Springs.  :dunno: for sure.. won't know anything for sure till THE day

Oh, and MOM IS COMING :woohoo: :hyper: :woohoo:

from my GPS records running the trail it's almost 48 miles from highway 50 running the trail and exiting out towards Tahoe side to highway 89. Taking Highway 89 back through the 50 to the turnoff to Ice house is aproximately 55 miles and another 31 miles to get back to the start at Loon Lake if your tow rig is there.

I'd love to be out there friday morning, but it looks like I'll be working and won't get the time off, so it's gonna be another red-eye run for me..... I'll be there late friday, then get a few hours of sleep and hit the trail a first light. This time I'm gonna take my time and get some pictures......
