quick question, what is the length of the f150 springs, and how good do they flex?

porkchop

Do not know length but I do know the 63" chevrolet spring is a much better flexing spring . Well that is my  :twocents: worth

2wd f150 springs  are like 56 inches  and flex nicely

very  close in length to Marlins 4 inch rear springs

the only thing i dont like about the chevys are they hang out the back so far cuz theyre so long and being that i bobbed my bed the shackle mount would be right under my tailgate which would put the shackle out there a couple more inches, i was just looking for a little shorter but flexy spring, im wanting to clear 35s and am going to run RUF's up front  and wanna keep it sitting level...

Bs85

i would get the marlin 4" springs but from what i hear they set your truck pretty high up in the air and i wanna keep it as low as possible.

Late 80s to early 90s. Would they be going under a truck or a runner? If under a truck yes you can run them without a block but in a runner youd need probably a 2" block. Im running a 3" block with dual shackles in my runner and I have 37s. In my old truck I ran them with no block and my 37s fit.

I was just wondering because a lot of people talk :pokinit: without knowing it from first hand experiences.

I know this thread is a couple days old and I only lurk here, but I figured I would post my experience anyway.

I am running 4wd f-150 springs from a late 90's ford in my '85 4runner with a soft top. They are 3 leaf plus overload (which I cut in half) and are about 2.5" wide. They are 57" long and are 31.5" from the rear eye to the center pin, so I ran them reversed.  Using my chevy front hanger and my stock rear shackle hanger, plus a 6" eye to eye shackle (sky chevy kit) I got somewhere around 4" of lift from them (not sure exactly, had the sagged rear end to start, went to chevys, trimmed the fenders, ran these). They are thinner than my chevys, they ride better and flex as well as, if not better than the chevys, I got more lift from them, and they don't overhang the rear like the chevys did. I am very happy with them and just need to buy longer shocks as the shocks are limiting my flex now.

I ran 3 leaf chevy springs but only got about 2" of lift with sky's kit, so my ass was low compared to my rears up front. I put in an AAL and pulled the overload to gain some height and that worked well, they still flexed well, but overall, I felt they were too stiff to really match my RUF very well. I plan to bob within the next couple months so I had to do something with the springs. The ford springs worked out perfectly.

I only have a couple crappy pics of them, but here you go. 6 leaf rears up front, f-150 springs rear, trimmed the rear fenders 4" and ran 36" SX's:
springs:

Height over 34's with stock fenders:

Not that it probably does any good, but this is 4" removed from rear fenders w/ 36's:

Hope some of that helps.

Curios if anyone knows the dimension's of a spring hanger for f150 springs. I'm fabbing a inboard hangers.

jrock

I used the ones Marlin sells and they worked great.  The springs are 2.5in and the hanger is 2 7/8in.

i used Marlins rear spring hanger

sorry to be a neub on this and always late to the show.

this seems to be a good route to go with my 84 pickup, RUF and f150 springs in the rear. Will the lift height match?

SloCrawler

I'm planing on building sumthing like this.... The spring hanger part is 2 7/8" wide. Shackle pin size? Clearance around the shackle? Much appreciated..  :driving:

depends on how you build the ruf,  you cant just move them to the front without taking them apart and adding a couple leaves to the bottom and removing the diving board load leaf
