Well, we're in week 6 now :woohoo:  only have about 11 to go! :thud:

I am having a blast!!  We did a live wildland burn on monday, spent all day out fighting fire, which was incredible.  We're about to get started on Truck operations, so we'll be running chainsaws, laddering buildings, knocking in (and down) doors, cutting holes in roofs, the whole bit :hyper:  I can't wait!!  Training has been tough, but a lot of fun.  I am basically training from 7am to about 5pm.

Physical Training has been incredible, I've already lost about 15lbs! :yikes:  We've been doing calisthenics, running the bleachers at UN Reno, and running circuits at our drill tower and drill grounds.  (7 story tower, we often climb up the ladder on the outside, and then run down the stairs, or vice versa)  And of course, as a special treat, we've gotten to run the stairs in the Silver Legacy (42 floors, ground floor to roof) and the Grand Sierra Resort (29 floors from ground floor to roof, short tower)

:eyecrazy:

somehow, I doubt it :gap:  If you click on the hazmat/railcar area, you'll see a pic of a bunch of vehicle parked in a gravel area, with a recruit class in front of the bus in the center.  I'd imagine these pics were taken when the place was built (2002)  That center bus is one of our storage rigs, the two engines between the buses are ours as well (not the white vehicle closest to the bus, I'm not sure what that is, its not there anymore)  Also, on the far right of the gravel area, that big red trailer is our confined space trailer.  We go in through the top, and there are 3 floors with movable walls and trap doors.  the floors are about 2 feet high, and we have to navigate our way down and out to a door on the side in no light.

No, we don't get to tote guns.  That facility is also used by the Washoe County Sheriff's Dept, the Reno PD, the Sparks PD, Sparks Fire Dept, Truckee Meadows CC fire academy, Northern Nevada police academy, and I'm sure I'm missing a few :gap:

:hahaha:  I could take my mom's care on the 4wd trail they have (ok, mabye not that, but close, my dad's stock tahoe easily could do it)  We actually did that yesterday.  I knew more about the 4x4ing than the teacher did.  We were driving a '99 F350 with a box, 100 gal water tank, and some odds and ends in it.  I would up doing everything I needed to do, before he would tell me to do it.  It kind of ticked him off :dunno:  But it was fun though

Jason, I'm so proud of you! You've really done it. I remember us talking a couple of years ago about this, and I'm so glad to see you following your dream! It sounds like a blast! I think I'd keel over from all the PT, but your still pretty young, and it's good for you! Sorry I didn't get to the post until today.

This one's for you :beerchug:

Well, I'm officially halfway through!!  Just 9 weeks (sans holidays, about 8 weeks left) to go!!!  We're still busting :moon: though, and our DIs and guest instructors are pretty dang pleased with our preformances.  This past week we spent most of the time drilling on Truck Ops, which consists primarily of search and rescue, forcible entry, laddering, ventilation (cutting holes with chainsaws, and breaking :pokinit: ) they're still busting our :moon: with PT, constantly stepping it up.  I've lost about 25lbs in this academy, and most of my winter coat!!  Can't think of a place I'd rather be, but I'm looking forward to getting out on line and being a real Reno firefighter :gap:
