what setup to run?

ok im a newbie and i have an 85 single cab right now it has stock rears with 2 inch block in the front it has downey 3inch springs running 32" tires . what i iwant to do with the truck is keep the truck as low as possible and run 35s but still be streetable being that it is my daily driver. any suggestions would help..

welcome to the site, look around here, there are lots of options, most people that are keeping things low can fit 35s with a 4" lift and a little trimming

i'd just browse everyone else's builds.. you'll get a good idea pretty quick on what everyone is running.

How do you like the downeys?  I want to go with a mild lift on my 80 and would like a set of those.  I like the way your truck sits now, but 35s would be nicer for sure

one thing to think about is how much you want to flex.  You could probably almost run 35's now but they would rub really bad when you hit bumps or flexed just a little bit.   What will you be doing with the truck just driving it on the road and some light occasional wheeling?  If you want it to be good on the street the you will want to do gears so you can still pull hills.  There are lots of variations.  Like others have said just start reading other build-ups to see what people are doing then build yours right the first time.

Nate my experiance w/ Downeys aren't good. These are a pretty stiff spring with little to no give and ride like a board.

WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO DO WITH THE TRUCK IS GET AS MUCH FLEX AS POSSIBLE AND STILL DRIVE OK ON THE HIGHWAY, I WAS LOOKING AT THE ALL PRO 3 INCH BUGGY LEAFS AND MAYBE PUT A 2 INCH LIFT SHACKLE WITH IT BUT TIVE LOOKED THROUGH THE SITE AND COULDNT FIND MUCH INFO ON HOWS THESE SPRINGS FLEX. IM PLANNING ON DOING THE HYSTEER AND IFS BOX FOR SURE SO I WANNA MOVE MY FRONT END FORWARD A FEW INCHES AND I DONT KNOW IF THESE FRONT BUGGY SPRINGS WOULD BE GOOD FOR THAT OR NOT

from the sounds of it, RUF and trim some sheetmetal.  Go with a mild lift spring or hybrid pack out back. look here: http://board.marlincrawler.com/index.php?topic=8233.0

  From Virginia.  I run the MC 5" Trail Flex kit.  It is a great kit but it is not cheap.  I would suggest saving your money until you can afford a quality kit. Just my two  Good luck no mater what you do.  Nice truck as well.
