The Toyota FT-HS Concept is a purpose-built car created specifically for the Detroit Auto Show.FT-HS was styled at Toyota’s Calty facility in Irvine, California, a studio best known for more prosaic products such as the Tacoma and Tundra pickups.

This front-engine, rear-wheel drive sports car is projected to accelerate from 0-to-60 in the four-second range. That impressive result is achieved through a powerful 3.5-liter V6 engine coupled to a 21st century sports hybrid system. With this hybrid powerplant, Toyota is shooting for a total power output of about 400 hp.

The Toyota FT-HS interior exhibits an ominous character with hard, uninviting surfaces and a brooding color mix of gray, black, and red. The dark, sci-fi theme is intensified by skeletal framework elements, the floating, hubless steering wheel, and glowing blue touch pads. Just add a new pair of Oakley sunglasses, and the FT-HS provides the perfect cockpit for the future urban racer.

Toyota FT-HS Concept also introduced the carbon fiber Kevlar roof which incorporates an aerodynamic longitudinal depression down its center, and a speed activated wing that elevates during high velocity driving. Just keep in mind,this Toyota FT-HS is a concept car.
