Differences in AFM
« on: Jul 29, 2007, 12:57:18 PM »
I have been trying to locate a new afm for my truck...I have recently gone to a website that had 3-4 different AFM's for a 22re (1989).  What is the difference between them?  Some had the top plastic plate that was more of a true rectangle and others had one that looked rounded on one end.  They were different part numbers and I am just curious which would be the correct one for my truck.  Any help would be great!

I just bought an AFM for my 89. I don't have the numbers in front of me, but, if I remember correctly, the 2 numbers for the 89 22RE ended in 55 and 60. This is the one that my truck needed.

If you check your AFM, you should find a number stamped on it and should replace it with the same number. I have been told, (but don't know if it is true or not) that the electronics inside are different between the 2.

thanks man, I will have to look at my original one and find out.  I am just cautious about it because I don't know what is original and what is not under the hood.  Also, my original does look completely different than the one that is on it now...may also be contributing to my problems.  Maybe I will get some pics of the two just in case someone else has this problem.

(edit) I checked it out and it only gives me 2 for my 89  :dunno: ...and one looks the same.  Wow, wish I had checked that site before any others...sorry to have wasted time  :hammerhead: .  I will compare the # to the one on my AFM that I took out from the truck. Sucks that it is probably the one that costs more  .
