you'll throw a check engine light, but it wont "mess" with anything.

Why bother removing the cat?  it wont net you any real gains in power, but it will make your truck more obnoxious and smelly.

the pros are greatly outweighed by the cons.

Now if you're boosted... supercharged / turbo'ed, thats another story.

I am getting on for my wifes 02 Tacoma, we took the 2nd cat off and that throw the light so this will fix that.

Do you plan to do all the work on your rig yourself?

The reason I ask this, is in Oregon, (I can't remember if it's a federal law) if any mechanic or vehicle repair company works on a rig with the knowledge that the cat is removed, they can be fined $5,000 per offense!  All our local business's will look for a cat before touching the vehicle!  We don't have smog inspections on th Oregon coast, but the Willamette valley does!

Check with your local mechanics!  Your better to run the cat, and help save the air we breathe!

it is against federal law to remove a functioning cat... a shop will most likely not do it

yeah, a cat is needed, especially with the air we have today.  You won't gain much at all...I know I will always have a cat on my DD...even if it is a really old truck.

the reason for removing the cat is because its right where the front driveline is going to be.  Its not like im removing it for fun or hp gains,  i have a toyota axle up front now, and the exhaust is on that side, running right where the shaft will be.  but hey, thanks for your opinion about cats,  im sure they make that much difference :smack:
