do you have dual cases? If you dont have a long slip drivline it might pull apart when flexed out.

marlin makes a 8 inch long spline shaft, i have read from this board that some say it isnt enough in certain situations, but for the most part i'm sure it will be.
http://www.marlincrawler.com/htm/axles.htm#driveshaft

so if you want to be sure inchworm sells a 12in long spline shaft.

and lastly theres the tractor spline which i believe is 13inches  http://customdrivelines.com/toyota-long-slip.htm

even if you dont have dual cases i would install the 5inch lift and replace the shafts anyway so you wont have any surprises

I put a 5 inch lift in my truck and still use the stock rear drive shaft. With it sitting on the lift in the shop at full droop there is still about 1-2 inches of slip left
you think nobody cares about you? try missing a couple of car payments.

I have a 5" suspension & 2" shackle lift on my toy your rear shaft will do but you should get a better one when you come across the money & keep the stock one as a spare. The front will eventually fall out and needs to be replaced. i used a double Cardin joint in the rear and love it!

Ive put a 5'' on a toy truck before and didnt have to touch either shaft, but then again, not bad for street. Depending on what your going to do with it (put it in the rocks an what not) your better off with longfields.

what happens when you flex it out with stock shafts and a 5 inch lift?

If you are going to run dual cases and the 5" lift, I would definitly get a cv in the rear!!  I am going to be replacing my 3rd set of gears in about 15,000 miles (Partly because of the shaft).  If you don't, you will end up having a lot of vibration on the highway, and your u-joints may not last as long.  http://board.marlincrawler.com/index.php?topic=35841.0  I think not having the cv (the slight vibration) and also not having lock-tite on my ring bolts caused my problems (and my pinion is too high).  I think you could get away with not having a cv in the rear if it is a trail rig ONLY.
He who dies with the most toys...still dies.
