u want the pinion to be pointed directly at the transfer case taking into account the springs settling. U dont need the body on the frame. I am assuming you are cutting off and welding on new perches

best way to do this is loosely mount the axle under the springs....(ubolts finger tight) with the perches sitting on top jack it up.  Use another jack to jack the front of the pinion up to desired angle

If I were you I would mock it up, as I have the 5" springs on mine and did not have to change my angle at all.

Is it not best to have the pinion pointing just slightly below the center line of the t/case output flange? That way under compression/axle wrap, it doesn't go too far beyond the centerline.

i dont know..are you asking me? can the suspension compress that far that the pinion would be above the output flange?

Of course. I mean, it's all being stupidly technical, the truck will still perform all the same, but if you have the option to alter the angle, then we always recommend to point the pinion just slightly below the center line of the t/case output shaft.

I've read that too, unless you have a traction bar.
