Calling all volkswagen mechanics

So my little brother brought over his 91' vw jetta to see if I can fix it. The problem is, it has spark and is getting fuel but will not start. The timing is fine, the injectors are pulsing fine but still nothing. I dont know anything about vw's so im stumped at the moment.  :smack:

Not a big fan of the vw's but I've worked on some.  How did you check for spark?  I have checked on just the coil wire before and had it, but not had it on the individual plug wires due to a burned out rotor in the distributor.  As for timing, is the spark timing and valve timing correct?

we checked them at the plug. The timing is good. Heres what happend, he had just had the timing belt replaced,a few weeks ago it was running good. He went for a drive and it just died. the first thing i checked was the belt thinking that it slipped but it was all good.

If it has spark and fuel then it is most likely a timing issue.  Did you see if the belt is spinning or is it just intact?  It could be intact but with teeth stripped off so it doesn't spin.

check the dist. timing also .. the dist. run off timing belt ....   timing mark for crank shaft is at the transmission  usualy  it have green cap for cover  ,cam timing should be on the cam lining up with the cover , and dist . rotor should be pointing at the line on the dist housing .   good luck
