it still looks like it is not far forward enough..that front bolt on the steering box should be right up against the support. I had to cut 2 or 3 inches off the front of the brace plate..your tie rod and drag link should be damn near parallel

X2 Truck looks good so far though.

Today will be welding on the shock hoops any tips?

Alright I am in the process of mocking up my shock hoops. In order to be parellel with the shock mounts on the axle the hoop needs to be cocked a little. so one side is high on the frame one side is low. I drilled out a piece of wood for a fake shock and I was hoping to get your guys opinion if it looked good or not?

O and one thing that made me kinda mad was the top plate that marlin included in the kit was way to skinny to weld in between the plates on the frame brace. It is like a 1/4 inch to skinny. Not sure what im going to do about that probably just leave it out seems plenty strong.

Yeah my steering box mount kit had the top cap that was about 1/4 in to short. I talked to the Marlin folks and the said they have had some problems with some of the being a little short and they said they would send one off right away. Thats what i love about Marlin crawler AWSOME CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!

Same here! He said he shipped out my wider piece today and I should have it tomorrow!

One side is done! Im happy with the placement of the hoop. Im about to go back outside weld up the right side than put the front clip on and figure were the fenderwells need to be cut out for shock hoop clearance.








To make things easier I actually drilled a hole in the shock hoop and drilled and tapped the frame so that I could bolt the hoop on before I welded it. Just with the bolts in there and no welding it was very strong.

Well I didnt get as much done today as I was hoping to. Only got one side shock hoop fully welded on and the hole cut in the inner fenderwell. The other side is all laid out tho just the hoop is not welded on.





Takin the day off from workin on the truck tomorrow to go to carnegie to ride dirt bikes so probably wont be an update.

Update: Front suspension is finished! Front clip is cleaned, painted and welded on. Remounting everything on the clip in the engine bay, hooking up the steering and puttin the front on the ground.

In that last pic the spot just above the bumpstop....is the frame been sec tioned, op is that where some of the ifs stuff has been removed?

It hasnt been sectioned and its an 85 so it didnt have ifs

it does look weird there...was the truck in an accident or anything? maybe its just the pic making it look strange...hey how is the steering box placement coming?

the box placement is a lot better now that its sitting on the ground

I should have realized its a sraight axle frame. the frame does look diferent there, kinda like something was removed, but I dunno?
