I just got an MC notification email with an odd subject line 'Marlin Crawler - Online Forum: Subject' ... I open it and find this..

For a second, when I first saw it was an ad, I thought the MC address was hijacked.

My e-mail server scans out spam, so I didn't see it! I'll have to go and look for it!

I'm still bummed I could have saved some

on my clutch if I waited one week to order!

i saw it and was like huh? whats that? its not a notification to my thread or a pm.....

pretty cool though..... i only opened it because i have my marlin stuff set to folder in my email, and it showed up with my notifications

Normally I wouldn't do this, but I am not sure how long the sale will go for, and we have walk-in customers and also some members here who did not know about our sale even after it was online for two days.

I know there are people who would not like to receive these kinds of news letters, so I need to be very careful with how I do it. Signing up here on the forum with your email address does NOT mean that you will be receiving a bunch of crap from Marlin Crawler Inc that you might not be interested in.

But I am running a test right now to calculate how effective that news letter was. I choose ONLY to send it to the upper member groups, meaning I sent it to every member EXCLUDING those in the "Dusty Trails" group. So that letter went out to 1,989 members who have at least 12 posts, and 6,100 members who have less than 12 posts did not receive it.

I thought it was kinda cool even though I'd already seen it on the site. I don't mind that kinda stuff as long as it's business related and doesn't include excess drivel or dead links. I had to remove myself from a motorbike site mailing list cause they kept sending me notices of sales but the pages were blank.

Sounds like some positive returns here, so I think I will consider doing this again. I will included a link to be removed from future news letters as well.

I like that this was sent out. I have my computer setup so when I click on the Marlin link it goes directly to the forum page. I usually don't go to the main page so I don't see any sales that happen to be going on. I vote for keep sending.

It'd work for me if my server didn't filter out spam! But then I'd have to delete about 150 spam e-mails a day!
