Does it seem to be OK, it should be at this height on the ground, it may seem to be thick but damn the front is heavy.

I got supports at the crossmember and with 4 35" tire and rim + a bunch of IFS crap, a third member in the back and the thing was lifting from behind when I lowered the front  :o :o

That doesnt look too bad, just remember that the driver side will need an extra leaf to match the height of the pass perch.

EDIT: I dont feel so bad about my messy shop now lol!

:hahaha: :hahaha: where do you see a mess, you just got to see the rest of the garage.

I got like 3' on this side and 2' 1/2 on the other side to work all the space that is left is in the front so all the stuff go there.

Can you say tight space.

I knew about the spacer on the driver side but thanks anyway.

HEY, have you been working in my garage? :slap:
A good day working, that's just sick :reg:

You should add another leaf or two..You may find the stock springs alone are too soft..I found a used 2 inch lift spring had about the same arch as the rest of the rear pack and fit in pretty good..

Looks good though!
Forgiveness is between them and god..
Its my job to arrange the meeting!

84runner

Instead of adding another leaf to compinsate for the differnent perch hieght, I would just weld a plate on the drivers perch and redrill it.  That way your running the same springed wiieght and you don't have to worry about sagging on one side

Three options
a. get a place with a shop or garage
b. move south
3. dont break sh*t (not an option) :_oops:

Jared

hey runner, what do you need to do to a stock front suspension setup on a 82 to run the rears up front?
ah the beauty of a cuttin torch

WHITE_TRASH

Not much needs to be done depending on how high you want it.  On my 81 i used 81 2 wheeldrive springs for the front.  It worked out pretty good just needed longer shocks and crossover and it would have been great.  I pulled the overloads out of the pack, put a long slightly arched spring in the driver side pack and a long spring with a bit more arch in the passenger side to level it out.  I finished it off with 5" (center to center) shackles.  I just took 2 1/4in. out of the draglink pulled the torque arm and the swaybar.

You sure did!  I had no idea you had a floor under all that stuff.  I found the floor in my shop today too!  Ok only found part of it but at least it was the part under the truck!

in fact, i said I had to do, but I didn't do it, a friend has.

I'm not a good enough welder to do pretty welds like those.

Oh and total cost for this modification, 0$

Speaking of working out in the cold, they are building a trans-siberian hiway in Russia and they have to leave the equipment running all winter because if they don't they will never get the diesels motors hot enough to crank again.
P.S
I put my transimssion in in my gravel driveway.  OUCH!

Jared

If i do the rears up front can i use a 3 inch push n pull drop draglink or do i ahve to shorten the stock one???if so, how do i do it?
ah the beauty of a cuttin torch

WHITE_TRASH

When I did the springs on the 81 I just shortened the draglink.  The draglink is solid steel, so it wont loose any strength.  I sleaved it with 3/4" 3/16ths tubing.  I would highly recommend you have someone that you trust weld it for you.

WT  do ya think the that the washers could be part of our alignment (death wobble ) problems?? :dunno:

TigerToy

If I put my rears up front and got a set of those cute little shackles that move the spring back would I still have to cut my draglink?  I thought you had to go with crossover steering, now I'm reconsidering doing a rears up front swap.
