So I am installing AC into my 4runner and yesterday I put the condenser and the little dryer thing in front my my radiator, And to do that of course you have to pull the hood latch and the little support. Anyway got it all done put it all back together and shut the hood. Like 20 minutes later I turned on my runner only to hear something hitting the fan. Thinking WTF I get out and look and hear the hood release latch cable hitting the fan. So I reach underneath my bumper and grill to open my hood and all of a sudden,  :censored: I cant get it with the condenser. So pretty much I have no access to opening my hood due to the hood release cable being broken and the only way I got it before was doing it manually. After that happened I just hit my  runner, reached way under the runner, moved the cable and got back in and drove around. I need to open the hood but I didnt want to mess with it, its way too hot outside.

Pretty much, How do I open my hood with a broken hood release cable and a condensor in the way of opening it manually?

Are you sure you can't put a screw driver or something thru the grill and open it?

I now those other ideas will definatly work  How about removing the bolts that hold the hood latch. There are one on each side & one directly behind the center of the grill. Drill a hole large enough to get a socket through your grill to get the bolt that is dirctly behind the center of the grill. If you look behind the grill you can see the bolts. You might be able to use a 1/4" drive socket with a swivel to get the ones on top or even bend a wrench  :crossed: :twocents: Good luck.

Chris, I may have the cable off my 87 still.  I have to go out that way in the next couple days and pay for my storage anyway, I'll look for it while I'm there.
