Exhaust options nearly broke
« on: Jun 21, 2007, 08:40:17 PM »
My exhaust is starting to rot off, and while I was searching around for exhaust options I found this (see link below). Has anyone used a Pacesetter exhaust system on their rig? I would love to buy an LCE exhaust, but they are little expensive for my taste. I suppose I could go to an exhaust shop, but I have seen to many hack jobs at those places.

BTW Anyone see a reason why this would not work on an 85? I noticed LCE's exhaust fits 85-95 I don’t see why the pacesetter would be different.

I need to do something in the next few months since my exhaust is not going to age like wine, well OK maybe Boones farm :gap:

PACESETTER is CRAP! do not use pacesetter, you will regret it later. there is a reason it costs way less than all the other headers, garbage is cheaper than good things

Thanks for the heads up,

Next week I will be living in Chico. So I guess my choices are LCE or Downey then? Any feedback on those systems?

You want one that has the thick flange, like 1/2" not the 1/4" like pacesetter!  They will work for a short time, until they warp and leak.  Anything that is good/high quality is gonna run ya like $400 plus just for the header!  I was gonna get a good header until I saw the prices, and decided that I'll get a header later down the road!  Got a stock manifold, and downpipe for free.   :yesnod:  I got the large manifold style (older) than the header looking style manifold.  Told it has better scavaging properties!

The way to really look at it is.  Do I want to spend $500 for a header and a couple hundred more for the pipe, cat and muffler, or do I want to spend $500 for a complete exhaust system?  This helped me decide!
Miss ya Dean (4THEWKN) & Kyle (KYOTA)!!
