Anyway, our cash for fuel was in question, that is to say, Not There. But i managed to acquire it, so after i wrench all night, we'll be able to leave tomorrow at 8:00pm, as long as Trunkz hasn't made other plans.

So we'll be able to pick up Joe at the airport, barring any major mechanical or emotional malfuctions. And actually WHEEL, instead of Walk!

it's not HAM, Bubba :slap:... it's TAYLOR Ham, NJ's secret breakfast meat. I think I actually have a roll and a half left.
I will cook it all up on Sat. morning. You have to try it. It's really hard to find anywhere out side of NJ, but they carry it inour local supermarkt. And it is not cheap.

there is no way we are taking your 'truck routes' again, GLen. I already told you that.

Last year it took us through all those bopunk little towns, it went from 55-60 mph to 25-30 mph with stop lights and every town exactly the same as the other. A convenience store, a Maryland chicken, a carwash and a Piggly Wiggly.

This is our route, it seems fairly direct and is mostly interstates:

I-40 to exit 147 - I-430S

I-430S to exit 129B - I-30W

I-30W to exit 111 - US-70W

US-70w to 70B (as per the Superlift Map)

70B to exit 4 - Kelton Rd. to Millcreek Rd and

It may be long mile wise, but I guaratee it is faster considering we can do 75-80 mph on the interstates

Just as I suspected

As per google map:

Your route: 140 miles for 3 hours and 1 min.
Our route: 203 miles for 3 hours and 21 min.

Those are both calculated as per speed limits.

On your 'truck routes' we can usually only do the speed limit or below because the roads are narrow, windy and we're not used to them. And as I said, they have stop lights in all the towns.

On the interstates we are goiyng to do at least 5 mph over the limit.

Ergo, our route will DEFINETLY be faster not to mention (but I will) we will be doing the last of the route in the dark, so the least amount of 'scenic' routes we can take the better.

But thanks for the good debate, Glen. I WIN AGAIN :cheer:

:disturbed:

I-40 to exit 147 - I-430S

I-430S to exit 129B - I-30W

You'll be rolling through my neighborhood. Watch out for the cops, they've been patrolling I-430 pretty hard lately. They like to sit in the median behind bridge posts.

Good luck with your Arkansas part of the trip, and I'll see you guys sometime Friday at the park.

I've been up since 8:00am Wednesday working on getting fuel money for the trip down to Arkansas, and then later pulling (2) 22R's, and putting one of them in another truck. I'm so tired i occasionally have to catch myself from falling off the chair.

We (Trunkz and I) spent most of the day sourcing parts and troubleshooting a bad clutch. The motor wasn't running very good, in fact the old motor ran better, so after Trunkz went home to get some sleep before the long drive south, i did a tune-up, timing, and finally a compression check.

IT SUCKS!!! 130 is the lowest, no wonder it doesn't have any power. I have no idea what happened, it's a rebuild that's been sitting around for 3 years. And then i noticed coolant leaking down the rear of the motor, from the heater hoses or the back of the head, i dunno. The engine's too hot to work on right now, and i've misplaced the tool i'm holding in my right hand. (Yawn...Zzzzzz)

So i'm CALLING IT OFF. The truck is NOT reliable right now, not for a 1200mile round trip. Trunkz was slurring his speech anyway when i called, he's only had about 90 minutes of sleep, too little for an 11-hour drive. I'd love to meet The Mammoths and talk to Glen in person again, but it 'AINT GONNA HAPPEN!!

I should have just taken Amtrak yesterday when i still had time. We were supposed to pick unclejpl4x4 (Joe) up at the Little Rock airport, to save Glen the trip, and free him up to lead a morning trail run. Now that plan is FUC*ED!

If anybody wants to get ahold of me, just call 309-202-1682, cause i'm not gonna be online for awhile.
