New knuckles -- alignment needed?
« on: Apr 07, 2004, 06:38:08 PM »
This is probably a noob question...  All things being equal, if I swap out my steering knuckles, will I have to get an alignment?  I'm researching a PreRunner>4WD conversion and am expecting to swap the whole knuckle assembly out for those off a 4WD.  Thanks.    :beerchug:

Well a test drive won't tell the whole storie. there are front end angales that do not pull, butt are bad for the tires.  when in dowt, pay the 50 bucks and find out. with what tires cost I would not waste my time geassing :wink2:
A good day working, that's just sick :reg:

It's 1 rod.  Use a tape from rotor to rotor.  2 degrees is recomended out in each direction.  The first time you take it out you will kill it any way.  Are you going to get the thing alidned each time?

If you are only changing the knuckles, you will not need to reset the toe in. All knuckles were made to the same spects to aid in faster assembly.

After reading your orginal post again, when coverting from a 2wd to a 4wd front end, i feel you will have to reset the toe in, ect.
