Ha ha, I remember that feeling very well, even if it was 14 years ago :yikes:  Here I am now, and.....meh, shoulda did sumfin with my life!  Don't procrastinate on going to college guys!

Congrats on graduating, I remember how hard it was to concentrate the closer it got.  I thoroughly enjoyed finally getting to ride my motorbike every day after work or go fishing, usually both!

Congrats guys.  Are you going to college?  I graduated high school last year and am going to college now and if you thought high school was a drag then college will not be too fun for you.  Most don't graduate in 4 years either so you can pretty much look forward to 5 more years of basically the same thing.

It is nice to have that high school diploma under your belt though.  As Nate said, don't hesitate on furthering your education if you plan to do so.

Congrats all... good job, but now it's time to think about what you wanna do for the rest of your life... hope some of ya are going to college....

Congrats man!! Feels good to be done with that :pokinit: huh?? :D

I hated high school (when I actually went) but I was surprised in that I actually really like college. Im about 3 years into it now but its far preferable over HS in my opinion. I enjoy the fact that its all up to you, what you take, how you go about it. Its not like daycare for teenagers. Its also nice not having to go every day and taking interesting classes that sound like fun. Anyway, good luck with the tech school! Good choice.

I love college, but what I don't like are the BS fees. These are just the examples from SJSU and you cannot opt out paying them. Except the parking permit

Child care fee $8.00 that's nice I don't even have kids can I drop off a dog.

Recreation fee $6.00 I don't plan on recreating on campus

Health fee $73.50 If I get sick I will suffer in silence with a bottle of Tussin Costco sized

Transit fee $21.50 I walk to school I don't need unlimited access to public transportation

Parking permit $384 per school year WTF this is why I will walk.

Congrats to all you graudates!! I remember that day (jeez, was it really 4 years ago? )  Needless to say, listen to all the advice given, and weigh it carefully.  Here are a few of the things I've learned

1) stay in shape.  You're in the best years of your life, don't let that freshman 15 (or 50)  get ahold of you.  I was aboue 220 leaving high school, got up to about 280, and am on my way back down 4 years later (260)

2) be active on and off campus.  Be it recreational sports, actual competition for the school, government, clubs, etc.  get active.  You build contacts, and later in life, you'll look back and smile

3) Don't be stupid.  It sure is fun to party, but education is expensive, don't waste your $$.

4) if you don't know what you want to do, there is no shame in going to a Community College.  You'll save cash, experiment with different courses, so you can figure out what you want in life, and did I mention, save $$.

5) READ THE SYLLABUS!!! as mentioned above, college isn't day care for teens, often the only information you'll get about quizes and tests is in the syllabus.  Learn it, know it, love it.  It really sucks going in, and hearing "get out your scantrons for your midterm" and having no idea, because you didn't read the syllabus.

6) Don't compromise.  Don't hook yourself up with a girl, friends, frat, etc. that doesn't fit your personality.  College is a time to get to know yourself, but if you compromise, you'll find yourself wondering who you really are.

7) if you can, live in the dorms, at least for your first year.  It sounds hokey, but you get lifelong friends, decent food, many extracurricular activities are available (pool parties, concerts, BBQs, trips, etc.) and it gives you the opportunity to wake up 5 minutes before class :gap:

8) appreciate mom and dad.  Chances are, they are contributing, so don't forget to call occasionally, and make sure you let them know you appreciate what they've done (are doing) in your life.  Home cooked meals take on a whole new meaning after eating dorm food/ mac and chees/ top ramen.  Enjoy it every chance you get :disturbed:  (free laundry is a good thing too!! )

9) if you get an apartment, don't move in with your best bud from HS.  you may get lucky, but it can and often does destroy friendships (I speak from personal experience here, and I've seen it happen with other friends)

10) Last of all, enjoy your time.  You only get one shot at this age, make the most of it.  Don't be stupid, but have fun.  Set your schedule to whatyou like ( sleep in, late classes, or get up early, and get them done, its up to you!!)

There are many more, but those are some of the ones I wish I'd taken into heart when I heard them.  Some of them are still biting me on the :moon: years later.

Once again, Congrats!!! Good luck, God bless, and go forth and succeed in all that you may want to do with your life!!!
