I think you need to send it to Dave at 4WD Toyota Owner Mag. He needs to use it as a cover pic on an upcoming issue and then do a feature on the truck.

Great shot!!!

:slap: , I can't believe you work for the mag and didn't know any better  . . . Bender Jambo ?

When we built this truck, we were under a time frame to get it ready for the Off Road Expo, so we didn't paint it correctly. It developed sme rust an needed to be repainted.

We took everything apart in the rear area and started stripping the old paint.

Then this is what it looks like now all painted. We used a flat satin type paint. I think it looks better than the semi gloss I had before.

Next, we're going to take the rear springs off and redo those and clean and paint the rear axle. After that we move to the front to redo the front shock towers and clean and paint the front axle, frame, links and supports, and to creat a hybrid front bumper for it and add a winch.

Last night I got my son to help me with the rear axle stuff. It's good to have a little helper around the house.

He likes power tools. Now I just need to fatten him up a bit so he can help me get those tires OFF the truck

Not afraid to jump right in... now my wife left when he went under the truck and the only thing she said was "he better come in when you come in". She never worried about me under the truck. Whats with that?

Now the springs are ready to come off so I can clean them and repaint them and the rear axle too.

After this stuff is done, it's off to the front half of the truck. Thats gonna be more involved because I'm cutting off the shock towers and making new ones, redoing the front bumper, changing the link ends, and repainting everything. Whewwwww

I'm surprised that you didn't link it in the rear too.

No need to.  The rear works really well with the leaf springs and Trac bar.  No need to spend all that money on it when this set up works just as well for the rear.

They work really well

does it eat bushings up though? i know that can be a real problem with leafs that get that much flex. i think if you ever decide to change or break a spring you might want to consider going to alcans with the orbit-eye they do a great job lots more flex

The rear axle is a custom Currie Enterprise's Dana 60 and the disc's are Wilwood rotors with Wilwood parking brake.

No problems at all with bushings.  No binding issues either.  Don't like alcans or the orbit eyes ince I drive on the street.

Some people don't mind the way they handle on the street but my truck weighs in at 5600 lbs + and that just leads to too much skirm back there.  Never had good luck with alcans either.  I'll stay with my Deavers.  I can crawl with most and fly down the freeway at 80mph on 40's.

Any guy who takes his woman wheeling enjoys her. A woman who is owned is left at home to cook, clean, and keep beer cold. So if this offends you you should stop looking and go have some tacos.    :rofl2: And a beer. If your old enough.   :beerchug:

Well, it's been some time since I've updated this thread.  The last time I did was the traction bar.  Well, thats gone now and I've gone with a three link rear instead.  I also switched from the Currie Heavy duty rear axle to a Currie Rock Jock.

I also moved up in tire size from 40" MTR's to 41" Irocks.

I also went with some bigger brakes for the front axle.

Had to french the frame to clear the new 18" coil overs for the rear.

Just about ready to go home and finish up some detail stuff.

It also got a new DeMello-Offraod front plate bumper.  Nice!!!

Once home I installed a new winch.  Never had one on it and never needed one but thought I'd better get one.  Used synthetic line as well.

Put the controller in the engine bay.

And then I put a 12 Volt Guy switch in the center console.

Put the rear fenders on and cleaned it and it was ready for the trails.

Made some head light changes.  These things are nice.  Philips HID's

Then made another change......  Put the RST Logo on the side.

Changed the Warn hubs to Yukons.  Love these things.

Then I ordered some Barnes Evolution joints for the top links at the axle.  Nice joints.

I also changed the top link tower on the front axle.  It had always been too short but the truck drove so nice I just left it.  It was time to make the change for better geometry.

Changed the rear top link joint as well.

Then I made a change to the shifter boots.  I wanted them to look better and I think I pulled it off.

Thats it for now.  If you want to see the entire build here is a link. http://www.rocksolidtoys.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8
