IMPORTANT INFO FOR NEW 07 DODGE 4x4 TRUCKS
« on: May 23, 2007, 08:56:35 PM »
FYI One of my Dodge dealerships I service has had 5-6 different trucks with this problem, the input side of the t-case is brasking in half. The customers are telling them there is a small vib, then a little noise then BOOM! The front input shaft and case blows apart. :_oops2: The 2 trucks I saw on the racks the front driveshafts spun around knocking out wiring harnesses, brake lines and body damage to the bottom of the floor (one truck actually had a hole in the floorboard). The techs are telling me this is on both lifted and non lifted trucks. I will try to get some more info and picts on this problem. If you have a new Dodge 4x4 BE WARRNED!  :beerchug:

CRAP  that sounds bad.  I just got a 07 6.7 megacab.  So far I absolutely love the truck but that freaks me out.  Do they have any idea on why this is happening.  ALso what speed is it coming apart.

So would that be the with the 5.9 or the 6.7 motor?
Also, is that with the floor mounted manual transfer case lever or the dash mounted dial switched models?

OK talked to some more guys and got a little more info... They (Dodge corp.) tends to think that the t-case is trying to shift itself into 4low while going down the road. They believe the solenoid is vibrating and causing it to malfunction.  :smack: The trucks with this problem are all shift on the fly 4wd no matter what engine. They (Dodge) doesn't know for sure because all the trucks are coming in on a tow truck with half the t-case missing. Thats all I got out of them today I think there going to keep this quiet for awhile :shhh:

Thanks for checking into this for me.  I am working on my Bachelors Degree right now in Auto Mechanics and this is just good info to know not only for me but for any 07 CTD's I might work on later.  I'll do little snooping of my own and post up any info I find out as well.

Ah a lot of my tools I have are matco.  GOOD STUFF!!

One of the kids I used to work with had a monster matco box and tons of their tools, courtesy of his time at uti (I think?).  Good tools, but we have a mac guy who comes to work, so guess what I buy?

Does the manual have a manual shift t/c?

If you mean't mine: I have a manual t-case, automatic transmission.  I specifically did not want a dash mounted electronic dial.

OIC

I wanted the auto case because I didn't like the floor setup with the shifter there.
