That's cool.  I like the go fast desert stuff too, but alas, not enough $$ for one of everything.

As for the CJ, us Toyota guys are way more friendly.  I'm sure we can find you a nice Toy to build.  In fact, I've got a 66 FJ40 that will be for sale soon, or a line on an 80 p/u for pretty cheap.  Both are projects but plenty of potential.

I really like those FJ40's also, but have not found an affordable "project" one yet. My pre-plan is to find something older like that, smog it, then drop a nice little SBC and a th400 into it and have a street legal crawler, if its possible.

Any info on your '66? Where you located?

I'm in Running Springs, (San Bernardino Mtns/Big Bear area) but the FJ is at a friends house in Riverside right now.  Being a 66 it does not have to be smogged, even on transfer (unless something changed that I don't know about).  It already has a SBC, NP465, NP205.  Though I'm with you and would prefer the auto trans, I didn't build it so it is what it is.  Right now it is having brake issues.  4wheel drums are not ideal.  The trans and tcase mounts are kinda booty fabbed, but if you can fab/weld it would be a piece of cake to fix.  Tub is nice with no rust that I can find, even the paint is OK.  Top is not as nice but replacement parts are available.  Was thinking of asking 5k but I could be beat down a little.

Could you e-mail more pics and details? [email protected] Thanks!!  :beerchug:

I'll try to get some more pics, or come by Riverside and check it out.  Spent a few hours on it this afternoon but I'm still having brake issues. :headscratch:
