Or you can get really lucky like I did with my Honda and have the persons tow hitch puncture your bumper directly onto the airbag sensor @ 5mph...what could have cost me simply a new bumper ended up costing me a hell of a lot more....    :wall: :censored:

thats sucks. alot of it has to do with WHERE you hit the bumper some sensors are less sensitive and need to be hit right on the sensor to go off

Check those things.  If it's partially activated you don't want some little thing setting it off when you're on the freeway.

Make sure they are not about to set off.  Take them to your mechanic or dealership.

On the real subject it is a combination of things that will determine if your airbag deploys, not only do the sensors determine deployment but speed, rate of speed decrease, rollover, and a few other factors. Knowing that there are no sensors in the side of a vehicle with only front airbags why would they deploy if you were hit broadside hard. The rate of speed decrease told the sensor to deploy them, same would be for a rollover.

the anti locks kicked in and slowed me down a bit, then a few feet before impact they locked fully and skikked and punched some nice holes in the bumper and crushed the back bumper, poped the trunk open and popped the tail lights out a little bit.....all in all wasnt to bad, but still sucky
