There is a whole hemp store in Sacramento.  They sell "hemp" burlap bags, clothes, purses, rope, you name it.  I don't know how the laws work concerning this.  Do they have to be imported?  are the grown in the states under the strict watch of the government?  is it a slightly different plant that doesn't give you the high that others do when you smoke it?

hemp is the male plant and the female plant is the one that produces the buds that get you high

the only reason hemp oil is not being researched or produced in the US is because all attempts to are quelled by many different industries...... The biggest players being the oil, textile, paper and logging industires. Hard for a bucnh of hippies to fight against them. If people would research a little they would find that hemp could solve many global problems including the oil shortage, deforestation and starvation. :working:

Yup, a damn shame. Really is.   :shake:

As far as the government is concerned, keeping the public as uninformed about hemp and its benefits (along with marijuana) is still the name of the game.

Just what does it take  to figure out  whos getting richer  at the working
mans expense?   when  oil reached $80 a barrel  last year  prices  were
under $3.00   ,  and oil companies  reported record  earnings.

NOW  oil is $65 a barrel  and gas here in Arkansas  is $3.25  a gallon.

sounds to me like somebody  with very influential  friends  in the oil
business  could say  "Hey fellas,  lets  just make $10 billion today  the
poor  people need a BREAK"

Sincerely,

The problem is that many people would be on a gas strike the day they lowered the price!  :haha:

I realize this is past the May 15th deadline, but to reduce consumption I bought a car that gets 36 mpg. It is just too bad that the purchase was due to a total loss of my off roader, which My insurance company claimed for parts.  :willynilly:.

Yeah, I had to purchase a car because my off road vehicle was totalled (aka no longer usable due to a vehicle crash)and I could not afford a 4x4 vehicle. I had to purchase a smaller more fuel effiecent vehicle so I could save up for a Replacement off road vehicle.  Is that better?

Just wondering what that has to do with an old thread about a gas strike that never really proved a point to anyone, that's all.But I guess I missed the point  :shake: ,carry on.

I apploigiaze for my misinterpretation. Since there were people still replying to the old thread I figured it was worth mentioning that sometimes to save on fuel costs and for me to do my part in decreasing the nations fuel consumption it is better in the short term to purchase something that gets better gas mileage than something that I could have more fun with.
The care may not be as fun, but considering I commute over 120 miles per day it is worth it.

For me it was not just a matter of a one day boycott, but an effort to reduce overall consumption over a longer period of time. More national fuel reserve = lower gas prices

Fewer green weenies to prevent us from drilling for, and producing, oil from our reserves = lower gas prices
The things that come to those who wait, may be the things left by those who got there first.

I contend that for a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying to lift himself up by the handle.

Yeah with the way the environmentalists have been blowing hot air up our butts, we will never be able to access those reserves.

Another thing is that due to the environmentalists, California has not been able to build more or even new refineries (after tearing down old ones) since the 1960's thus reducing the possible efficiency in gas production. It doesn't matter how many barrels of oil we have sitting around if we can't process them.

I just figure lower gas prices and more fuel efficient engines are easier on my pocket book in the long run. That is why I like the thought of using a diesel engine for my project instead of a gas engines. With a savings of 10 mpg  at 3 dollars per gallon, I can save (with my commute) over 1300 dollars per year.

For those of you who have dedicated trail rigs, put a powerful engine in there, I love to see those engines and working with them. I just can't aford them at this time.
