I lowered a VW Caddy, a diesel Rabbit pickup. I also did a 2.5" straight exhaust, sounds awesome! Will let the pics speak. First shot is how it came in.

That Caddy is sweet!  Looks like it's time for some paint now.

How much of a drop is that?  Looks like about 4".

Its a 5/7 drop actually. On different tires, doesn't look like as much. On the stock wheels you could tell better how far it went since they where on it before, but the rubbed the coil overs up front. So they went on my car for now.

Again blown away by your fabwork. I love Vdubs and always liked the older ones. Id love either an older mk2 gti or mk4 r32 to build sometime as a fun DD weekend racer. Also always liked s4's but one bad thing i hate about them, when one turbo goes you have to replace two as well as the rest of the turbo system. Twins adds up quick.

Ya the turbos on my car are going to be expensive.


Motor is in, with new motor mounts built. Braced the cab and cut out the floor. Going to start building the rockers, then place ti over the frame and figure stuff out.





Also think the Golf needs to be a little lower, or at least leveled out.

Mike brought his truck back to the shop to get a shift knob made. I made a one to his specs, and pressed the stock gear select emblem into the top of it flush. Took bad pics with phone, can't figure out how to email the high res version, since my phone has a 5MP camera, and they are clearer on the phone...

use a MICRO SD card. and transfer them i dont know of any phone that you can send pics to ur email, in high res. they always get sized down.

Cutting the rockers down.

So we set the cab on today. Need to trim the firewall a little more to move the cab forward. Just got everything rough cut to set it down. Need to get the bed out to center up the wheel base at ride height.

Loosely laid the bed on to make sure we got the wheelbase right. Its dead center front and rear, very happy.

love the golf. how much is it lowered? I just picked up a jetta i want mine to sit like that

I'm not sure, I think 6-8 inches. Its got coilovers on it, I adjusted them so the cars sits level with the bottom of the rocker 5" off the ground all around. The oil pan and front control arm mounts are about 2.5-3" off the ground. At some point I want to notch the frame for the axle, and flip the tie rods/balljoint spacer, and lower the whole thing another inch.

Coilovers are pretty cheap. 

Probably going to sell the Golf though, and put the money towards getting a new place. Deposit on a house is killing me.


Doing the frame horns so we mocked up the front end to get a feel for what we want to do here.


Mind you, the truck is blocked up 2.5", its not laid out. It tucks a lot more!

Is the cab floor done on the Mitsu or are you still in mock up phase?

Its all braced up with no floor still. The rockers are just tacked to the pieces under the frame. I'm working on the Double Cab again. I decided to get some sheetmetal stuff made, and have the body mounts laser cut for the Mitsu. He wants us to unibody it now, which means 8 body mounts. I was fine cutting 4 by hand, but making 8, plus all the gussets identical is just a pain.
