Thank you.

My phone takes terrible pictures, but this is how we did the shear load plates.

That's a lot better pictures than my phone takes.  By the way, that frame is turning out badass.  Looks like a stock floor body drop in the works...

I'm comparing it to my old phone. I got a Droid with a 4MP or better camera, and the pictures are way worse than my old "industrial" phone with a 2MP camera in it. I keep forgetting my real cameras at home.

And yes, this is essentially a stock floor frame. But he wants to cut about half the rockers off, which leaves about an inch under the stock floorboards, so it has to be raised anyway, or possibly just build a whole new floor. That is the route I want to go, lol.

I don't doubt it.  It would look sweeter, plus more $ in your pocket.

Started placing the engine and transmission to get an idea on the location of things. Built the transmission mount, motor mounts will come at a later date. I have some plans for the front suspension that need to take place first. But getting the drive line in means I can get the measurements I need to continue on the rear a little bit more.

You also might notice that the steering box is on the wrong side. All the holes are there from the factory, and it simply bolts up in RHD orientation with almost no modifications required. I need to check wheel clearance before going any further, but it appears to be designed to work this way so I think we will be going RHD on this thing as well.

And so the RHD thing basically confirms that I will be building the floor, and also the firewall now too. I will also be converting to a hydraulic clutch, instead of cable, using a Wilwood slave like the one on the Mercedes. Brakes IDK yet but it would be cool to use Wilwood stuff there too like the Mercedes.

That's a crazy stock steering setup.  It must have some sort of gears inside the cab to make it a lefty.  I don't know what those factory engineers were thinking....  RHD would be cool, especially with your fab skills this will end up with a swee floor, firewall and dash.

Why thank you.

Well stock it was in the same spot just on the other side. No crazy gears or anything. Its a rear steer truck from the factory, like a Tacoma. Only it uses a gearbox instead of a rack.

Got the old cross member cut out, made a new one, and put it in. I made that sound easy..

are u interested in a rear disc brake kit for the 2wd axle?

Twisted Minis

Possibly, what is it? How big are the rotors?

im working on a kit, i will be using supra rotors and trying to find affordable calipers, the supra ones are $130 new without cores each.  the rotors are only $35 each

the rotors are 11.5" tall and .71" thick

Twisted Minis

Maybe. I was thinking you had something ready to go. Honestly you can do Wilwood aroudn the same price. Use Mustang SVO rear rotors, they are 11.5" diameter and .850 width I think. Wilwood Dynalite 4 piston caliper $125. Also front calipers from 79 Monte Carlo are around $75 new loaded and fit as well. Thats what I did on my blue truck.

im doing a kit for the rear of my 93 2wd right now, but im gonna keep it all metric and use calipers off the rear of a car to keep the 60/40 braking without an aftermarket proportioning valve.  my 93 2wd came stock with a 1" master cyl too.

Twisted Minis

Well let me know what you come up with. If I can cut out some of the fab and design that I have to do, I am all for it. I will already be doing so much on this truck. The stock front rotors are smaller though, like 10" or so? I remember when I did a rear disc swap on my 80 the rear rotors where bigger and I hated it. I would like to upgrade the brakes on the front of this truck though to like a 12", and use some different calipers. IDK if he will go for it yet, but I have all the parts in stock aside from a rotor hat. And I will probably be running the master and booster that I had on my 80. Its the smaller booster which is good, and the Landcruiser 1 1/6" non ABS disc/disc master, and still pretty new.

Site was down last night, but this is what I intended to post.

Here are some extra shots now that the motor is back out. I have started drawing up plans for the front suspension, and some other laser cut parts.

So as I am waiting on things, I decided to machine a spacer for the lower balljoints. Before I just used a piece of tubing faced on the lathe, and it worked fine, but it was an eyesore to me. So I decided to build a more visually appealing spacer, that will eventually be welded to the spindle. There should be nice little touches like this all over the truck.

It lines up the cotter pin and the castle nut. I used fullsize Chevy press in balljoints when I built the arms for a cleaner look, instead of the stock bolt in ones. Allowed me to build a more attractive arm. But I think the Chevy spindle is really thick there or something, because the threads are super long past the taper. The spacer just takes up that space so things line up.
