hey  dont tell www.toysport.com  the 22RE  aint for racing

Quote
In 1985 Toysport raced a 22RE Toyota Celica GTS in the Macao Grand Prix.  The original plan was to use an 18RG, but since the vehicle had US serial #'s (from Toyota Motorsport) we were forced to use the U.S. engine the 22RE!  To the entertainment of the other Toyota Teams from Japan, we qualified at the last minute, in the last half of the grid.  The other Celicas (with their Twin Cams) were all in the top 6 positions.  At the finish the Toysport Celica placed 3rd- behind 2 BMW Motorsport prepared 6 cylinder BMWs!

Funny I have the NAPPA online catalog open on another tab, Waltrip is the team owner, he's like Petty was or should I say in his mind he's like Petty at the the end of his career. Toyota doesn't think that this is gonna happen overnight but it will come, they have to build the teams. You don't just walk into nascar and expect to get into every race. As time passes and they get more hours on the tracks they'll build a record. Right now they have to get in on their times or go home, they don't have the team/driver points to get in every race.

so other than he is a lousy racer.... anyone here that he was driving home and crashed his car recently? @ like 2 AM.... supposedly he fell asleep @ the wheel, crashed, got out, and walked home... the police found him later @ his house..... so basically, sounds like he was drunk crashed his junk, fleed the scene, and got caught at home, sobered up...... hes now being charged with wreckless driving and some other stuff i beleive.....
