22re wiring harness
« on: Mar 05, 2007, 02:44:20 PM »
I'm having a problem with my wiring harness.Last year I rolled my 92 truck and it wasn't worth fixing so I just stripped the whole thing and got rid of the cab and the box.I haven't been able to find a 3rd gen cab so I ended up getting a 2nd gen cab.I know I can run my 92 harness through the 85 cab and make it run but I was looking at my buddys 86 runner and The 3 plugins on the steering column are the same but there is different pins in a couple of spots. Now for the gauge cluster the 3rd gen has a fourth plugging which the 2nd gen doesn't have.
Question is has anyone done this and what worked and what didn't work?

I'd try and get a wiring diagram for each of the models and then you can compare the wiring!  I think it was around 91/92 that alot of the wiring changed in specific areas.  Not sure which.  For $13 + shipping, from toyota you can get detailed wiring diagrams for specific years and models!  Call 1-800-622-2033 to get them if interested!  You can get the FSM's from this # too!
Miss ya Dean (4THEWKN) & Kyle (KYOTA)!!

I mite be in a similiar situation soon then... im swappin a 22-RE into my 81 long bed. But the motor and harness are out of an 83 Celica GT. :crossed: Thanx!
1st gen yota truck. 37x12.5x15. 5spd dual cases, chevy springs in rear, toyota rears springs in front. Long bed....the list never ends..
Dont try to shift into 6th when u've only got a 5spd! Rubberside down doesnt always mean rite side up!
