forward shift to top shift
« on: Mar 04, 2007, 10:03:03 PM »
ok, ive done abit of reading with the search. im running a stock top shift tranny and t-case right now, have a spare G52 forward shift tranny and-tcase as well. im going to use the L52 for now and swap the G52 later on. but heres my question. the G52 reduction box can be converted to a top shift and be used as my front box, then adapter and then top shift transfer case, will that all work?

another question......can i run that same setup, all top shifts, once i swap to the forward shift tranny?? or will the rails be too short....having to swap rails again

Thanks for the help

yes it can be done.  and yes, you can use a top shift case behind a g52, just cut another hole and block off the top of the trans.

yeah, youll have to cut a hole for the first tcase shifter, if you run a top shifting case on a forward shifting trans, instead of just the 2nd case shifter hole.  I think the L series is shorter anyhow.

im in the same situation...i think.  the first post talkes about using a forward shift as a replacement as a top shift...correct????  then down a ways... using a top shift into a forward shift trans.

i apologize if this is a hijak, but i thought it would be easier to mention my situation in this thread then making a new one.

i have a w56 top shift that has failed and i only have a forward shift replacement on hand.

what all is involved in getting it to work?
