Converting forward shift tcase to top shift
« on: Jun 16, 2021, 09:53:51 AM »
Hey all, so I’m in the middle of a trans swap on a 95.5 t100, havin a hiccup with the tcase, on the t100 it’s a passenger sidedrop and the donor r150 and tcase I got is out of a Tacoma with a driver side drop. The tcase on the t100 is also a forward shift which won’t work with the r150 as I need a top shift. Is it possible to convert the t100 tcase to a top shift by swapping the shifting shafts (not sure what else they’re called) in the tcase to the shorter ones or am I SOL and better of finding a different passenger side tcase that’s too shift?

The T100 rear tail-housing bolt pattern is a 3.0-liter style bolt pattern which is different from the 96+ R150F bolt pattern. To my knowledge, both of the transfer cases are top shift as they both came off R150F transmissions (different year and bolt pattern). All R150F transmissions/transfer cases are top shift. If you have a forward shift R-series, you probably have an R151F that was swapped in? That is odd.

The 88-95 R150F that was behind the 3.0 had a forward shift tcase behind it

All R150F transmissions/transfer cases are top shift. The photo in the link you provided on our website is a generic/incorrect photo. That is actually a picture of the R151F Turbo transmission.

Just for more knowledge, that is actually the only one that has a generic/incorrect photo. All of the others are correct.
