Nope, but I plan on bringing my front housing to work tomarrow to weld up at lunch. It's a hassle setting up my welder at home, someone is always doing laundry.

Today I finally brought my front housing in to work to finish welding. It's only been 6 months :shake: since I even touched the damned thing. I also brought my front bumper so that I could finish modifying it.
I really don't feel like missing another wheeling season. Riding passenger can be fun, but I'm tired of not wheeling my own truck.

I have all of the power steering stuff, don't know if the pump is any good since I got it off of ebay. I don't think I'm going to really get much done on the toy any time soon since my Dodge got hit again. This time the driver side mirror is totally destroyed, there is a dent in the fender from the mirror, the drivers front rim and hub cap are gouged up. This is the 2nd time this :pokinit: has happened . I talked to a deputy that was parked at the school my truck was parked in front of last night, and he said he would have seen it happen if he hadn't been called out on a prowler call a few minutes prior. He said a neighbor a few doors down reported a motorcycle hitting it and running. The first time the guy that hit it ran, but my neighbor saw him park around the corner where he lived. The mirror glass was all that needed to be replaced, and only cost me $60, but I told the guy that the whole thing needed to be replaced and got $250 out of him. I didn't feel bad for getting so much more out of him since he had no insurance, and was an illegal.

Now that I got the dirt bike back together I'll start working on it. Hopefully it won't rain much this weekend so that I can get some stuff done. I also have to find out if I can have the 4.3 out of my dad's van and check out a transmission that a buddy is gonna give me for free before I fully weld the t-case crossmember.

Well after about 6 months of not doing anything with this pile I finally got to working on it again. I had this week off from work, so I figured I had better get my ass in gear.
-Monday I tracked down all of my parts in the garage. It took me awhile to track everything down and figure out what my plans were for some of the odd ball :pokinit: I had.
-Tuesday and wednesday I did a shitload of cutting and grinding getting rid of unneeded brackets on the frame, and put the axles, tires and suspension under the b*std.
-Friday I made sleeves for my rear shackle hanger bushings and tacked 'em up on the back of the cross-member I welded in at the rear of the frame nearly 3 years ago.
-Yesterday I built the rear shackles and bolted them up. This thing is finally sitting completely on its own suspension. Once I'm sure everything is where I want it, it's all coming apart again and getting fully welded, so I'm actually only about 1/3 of the way through with the things that I got "done" this week.
No pics of the stuff I got done this week, it was too damn hot to remember to take any. I'll take some this week when I start finish welding.

In other news, the 4.3 is a no go. Had to get rid of the van that I was going to pull it out of to please the code enforcement pricks.

A few pics of what I've gotten done in the past few days.
I tacked the rear shackle hangers to the rear of the frame and made 12" hole to hole shackles after taking some measurements from my cousins truck of how far the rear springs sagged with weight on them.

The shackles are a little long, and will be cut down to 10" and the hangers will be mounted under the frame  to keep the truck level

Before setting the rear in stone, I figured it would be a good idea to finish up the front and set up the rear to match.

The front shackle hanger is going to be sunk into the frame half way. With the springs mounted so far forward the shackle doesn't sit completely under the frame, so the large part of the cut out will have a section of 2.5" pipe in it with a piece of plate matching the O.D. of the bushing sleeve.

I threw the bed on just so I could clean up the back yard a little. Took some measurements and it looks like it will be getting bobbed 8" at the rear, and completely narrowed 10", 5" out of each wheel well

they need to get cut down 6"
Why 6"? The rear is level with the front, and once the shackle hanger is moved under the frame and the shackle is cut down 2" it will still be level, and the shackle angle will be about where it should be.

I don't usually butt in but, If it were me............ I would either put a block in between the leafs and axle for the lift you want and cut that crazy shackle down to 5 or 6 inches or get a set of leafs with the right lift and still cut that shackle down. The stress that would be put on that shackle swivle point will be outta this world. It is just a "snap" waiting to happen. "I may not be a very smart ma-an, buuutt this is my  :twocents:

I agree that those shackles are a little too long. I would cut them down to 5-6" mounted under the frame. You could even make a drop block welded between your frame and your shackle hanger. Also, try getting the front end lower. mount the shackle through the frame, or removea leaf or two or something.

The shackle hanger is just a bushing sleeve and a piece of 1/4" flatbar  tacked to the back of the frame. If the was where it was going to stay, it sure as hell would not look like that when done.
