hey all got a question for ya!  does anybody make a hub kit to adapt a ford dana 44 into a tacoma i have a good line on a 3/4 ton dana 44 and want to swap it into my taco but im not sure about the bolt pattern just short of turning it all over to 8 bolt i would like to keep the 6 because im keeping the rear diff in it.  thanks for the help

you can get the outers from a gm 10 bolt, its interchangable between a 10 bolt and a dana44. hubs, knuckles, and axle shafts.

I believe if you did this you'd have to swap out everything because the 10 bolt is a different spline count. Atleast it is for a Chevy D44 to a GM 10 bolt.

The axle shafts a little longer as well.

You need GM outers and yes as said above the 10 bolt stuff will interchange with d44 stuff from the knuckle out. the inners are different and stronger is in debate :gap: the GM 6 bolt is the same as Toyota

Forgiv my ignorance but the ford is gonna be driver drop. I thought toys were pasneger drop. Did they change to driver drop for the Tacoma???

thanks guys i appreciate the responses.  so what im looking at is a ford 44 with gm 10 bolt outer axles knuckles and hubs.  couldnt i just swap out the hubs and keep the axles that are in the ford 44?

ZukIzzy

No the ford outer axles are longer than the GM ones, also the hubs are spaced differently to the rotor and the caliper is completly different. It is much easier to swap the whole outer assembly than try to mix and match parts. it is not hard to swap the gm outers on to the ford inners. one of the easy jobs of an SAS.
