So i'm going to be ordering my Coilovers here in a few weeks.. got a question for you that are already doing it.

Here's the scenario,

I'll have coils on the front and airshocks in the back, my reasoning behind this is that the coils would work better in the front because there's more weight up front and the airshocks will be fine in the back because there's very minimal weight in the rear. Well... so I thought, now i'm wondering if the airshocks are going to get overworked (ALOT!) and the Coils wont be doing anything. Why would I say that? Well here's my thought process on it...

When you lift the driver side tire the counter point will be the rear passenger so i'm thinking that once the driver side tire starts to climb the rear will have alot of pressure on the passenger side and will flex easly but the majority of the weight will be distributed to that rear passenger side.. not allowing the front to articulate.

Am I just over thinking this or does this sound like a problem?
Anyone came across this year on their rig (or a friends rig?)

Any input would be appriciated!

Hyena

it would depend on what weight coils you got with the coilovers.

Well it can't be TOO soft.. because then it would be defeating the purpose of having coilovers in the first place. I'm looking at a 200 lower and 250 upper w/ a tender coil.

I've been thinking about bumping up the CC's in the airshocks if this becomes a problem.. i'll be ordering the coils on Sunday if they've got me a price.... if not i'll just order them from Poly Performance on Monday.

I've had bad experiances w/ adding oil... but its worth a shot.

Have you read billavista's (pirate board) write up about tuning the airshox? He explains the formula for how to decide how much of each to use.

Shamb

Yea I have... I tried using his calculator method and didn't really understand it to be honest..

anyone know off hand how much oil the 16" 2.0 Fox airshock comes with stock?

I'll be tearing down one of the shocks to repair it but have no clue what to even start with putting back into it.

What weight? (5,7,10 or?)

I was hoping you would tell me how to use that chart. LOL Honestly I haven't spent any time looking at it to figure it out yet. I'm not that far on my project yet.
Looking at Fox's rebuild page that billavista has a link to it only goes up to 14" shock, but every 2" length increase was also a 25cc increase. So it looks like a 16" would be 350cc's.

Shamb

LOL.. atleast i'm not the only one who doesn't understand it.

Thanks for the info. I believe what i'll do just to double check... is pull off the good airshock and pull it apart carefully.. so I can measure the oil in a cup and go from there.
