Windshield Washer Nozzle Adjustment
« on: Jan 22, 2007, 05:20:31 PM »
I noticed the windshield washer nozzles on my 85 Xtracab were shooting big blasts of fluid instead of fine mists. These big blasts of fluid were only hitting the bottom of my windshield and it wasn't doing anything useful. So I searched both here and the other forum for anything usefull. Came up empty handed.

So I google searched and read for a while. And found that if you put a small regular screwdriver in the nozzle and turn it clockwise, it will increase the misting and the angle of the nozzles spray pattern. So after a few minutes, I had both nozzles spraying into the center of my windshield now.

FYI.

Sweet!  That is awesome!  I was going to try and replace mine with some from a newer vehicle or something.  You don't realize how important those little nozzles are until youw winshield is covered in mod or road grime!

clockwise usually makes the valve close thus increasing atomization... that would equate to more misting

Where do you put the screwdriver?  And which piece actually adjusts?  Mine just have the two little holes, and the place where the hose hooks that goes through the hood...

I couldn't find any kind of slots on my, they are on my 1987 hood.  I also have some off an 89 in mu pocket right now and they don't seem to have slots either...  Were the earlier ones maybe made differently?
