My home stereo that I've had since I was a sophomore in HS (82) finally took a :pokinit: today  My how things have changed, this stereo has a component for each function, reciever, amp, CD (single  :talkingn:) EQ, dual cass. and a turntable :talkingn: Been shopping online for a replacement today and basically I'll be going from 6 separate components to 2.
It's been a good haul ol' buddy, you've provided 1000 watts of entertainment for countless kegs thru HS and college and set the mood for the taking of the female prey of said kegs  Your days of being on "11" slowly faded to barely getting up past "3" after the ol lady moved in.

You served me well old friend... RIP

Tallchevy

I'm sorry to hear about your loss  :rivers: It's hard to lose something that has been there to cheer you up when you were down. You can replace it but it will never be the same as the first. Memories are all you have now. Just keep it in your heart & think of it when you are down. I hope you have a speedy recovery. You can count on all of us here at Marland to be there for you.

Funny thing is, the old receivers put out way more watts than new ones.

thats for sure this is 1000 x 2 channels and the Denon's I'm looking at are 100x2 or 100x7 for the surround systems  :talkingn: thing is when it warms up it fails on one channel (L) so hopefully I can open it up and poke around a little or send it out. It is getting replaced as the home unit but I hope to be able to save it for a shop stereo (just the amp eq reciever and CD)

I can still remember this thing being brand new and buying my first CD (VH I ) for it when CDs first came out.

Man...if it's that old send it out to have the tubes checked before you buy a new fangled solid state unit.

my condolences for your deep loss. :rivers: In times like this, it is necessary for us to support you in your time of mourning :beerchug: I hope you find a proper place of rest for your dearest friend. I too have suffered similar losses as have many of us here. Be strong and things will be brighter as the time passes.

I said goodbye to my first a few years ago and there was nothing wrong with it except for not having enough inputs and a remote.

I still have the speakers and Diane tries to kill them on a daily basis with her movie watching.

Sorry for your loss.

Sorry for your loss mang, there's little that can be done to console on occassions such as this.  If you can't fix it then you need to build a mahogony shelf, bronze the stereo and mount it high on the wall for all to view!  When people ask "why?", simply slap them in the back of the head and reply "because I can!"
