 1st question: Where would I go to have my bed bobbed (bodyshop) ? Im located in Monterey, CA. 2nd question: How much should I be looking to spend without paint? I was quoted $1000- $1500 for 10-12 hrs work @ a shop here in Monterey.

Im in Northern California about 30 miles North of Sacramento.

Edit: My buddy owns and run's a paint shop so we've got all the tools to do the job correctly and make it look nice if your interested just PM me your contact info.

10-12 hrs to bob a bed?   naw they're not you. I'll do it for half of whats shamb offered  seriously its a couple hour job to cut and re-weld the sheetmetal, then depends on how fancy you want the finish to be.

1k? buy a welder and do it yourself. its not that hard (spot welds) and you'll have a kick ass welder to show.......whats the point in spending over a thousand dollars for BODY WORK for a wheeler?

Welding is easy you just mix the epoxy with a stick and smear it everywhere.     Just kidding    Its really not as hard as you think and for the money you are talking about you can take a course and buy a welder.

u can get a brand new millermatic 175 mig (great starter unit that will last) for like 700 bucks. Spot welding is not hard. A blind monkey could do it. Get a bunch of scrap body metal and go to town practicing!

its all about practice. buy plenty of wire in the beginnig and don't be afraid to waste ithttp://www.millerwelds.com/education/library.html

sheetmetal isnt what you want to learn on. You need to make some friends that have the experience and will help you. Save your money, take a welding class at a CC and then shop for a nice midrange wire feed welder, then in no time you will be able to do all your own fab and you could be the one making $$ when someone else needs work done.

Don't even do welding classes, just find someone who knows how and have them show you.

be sure and make the Roundup this year (Sept.) to meet an awesome bunch of people off the board. Also theres a run in JV in April if your down for that. Is Kaneohe on the big island? from what I saw when we were in Kona last year that volcanic rock has got to be murder on tires but awesome traction

My truck is IFS & completely stock beside the bodylift. I hope to have it ready by then.By the way Kaneohe is located on the Windward side of Honolulu. I never wheeled on any lava rock before not much on Honolulu, but they prolly would wear some tires out.

X2!  Even if your rigs not ready there's alot of great people on this board, you could ride with someone and get familiar with CA trails. You'd have a blast.

I will definately be looking forward to go & meet some people from the board. I would like to wheel in my own vehicle, I'm getting the fever. I havent wheeled since I left hawaii, well actually the wife & I visited Red Rock canyon @ Las Vegas during our X-mas vacation. That was some light trail stuff beautiful scenery though...
