noob checking-in
« on: Jan 06, 2007, 01:37:03 AM »
Hi, I've been lurking and scavenging some info for a while.
I'm not really a minitruck kind of guy (see sig) but I have a dualcab diesel hilux waiting for a resto and a 2WD std. cab coming that will serve daily duties. I just built a R151 (R151F/R154) hybrid to put in it, it comes with no engine and no tranny. The engine will be some sort of 2L series diesel and a development base for performance evolutions. Ultimate goal would be 200hp/200km/h, it probably will never be achieved, I'll consider myself happy if it cruises like a car and returns good mileage.
Thanks,

Do you have 1kzte engines over there?  It'd be way easier to achieve 200hp out of it than a 2L, not to mention the engine is just way stronger.

So it's r154 guts on the left, r151 guts on the right?  I like!

That's it ! the hybridation between the 1988 R151 and 1989 R154 was a piece of cake.
1KZT would be great, but way out of my price range, and I want to see how far I can go with the 2LT. (Plus I'm doing this truck on the cheap for an economy DD/ work truck) The cash for just one 1KZT could probably buy 5 2LTs. If I go to the K series it will be the direct injected 16 valve KD-FT with mech. injection and 2-stage turbocharging
