Taco shaft to older output flange
« on: Dec 15, 2006, 02:59:41 PM »
I swaped out the transmission and t-case in my Tacoma for a W56 and pass side drop t-case for my axle swap and the rear driveshaft doesnt bolt up and I cant redrill because the holes in my Taco shaft are bigger than the t-case output flange. I have two questions.

1. Is there a flange of a specific year that is bigger so I can redrill it but alot have the correct splines for the t-case?

2. If I get a driveshaft out of an older truck with the correct cv bolt pattern will it match my diff side?

3. Can I take a cv off the older driveshaft and put it on my taco shaft to mate it up?

I think the centering ring is the same diameter.  You'll just have to redrill for the 10mm bolts.  Most Toy mini 4cyls have 27-spline case flanges; same as our 3rd members.  A340H autos have 23-spline flanges, and Tacos have a different 27-spline or 30-spline flanges.  Most cases can have flanges swapped front to back.

The flange is to small to redrill completely. I think Im going to drill it out anyways and the holes with be over the end of the flange by 1/16 in. on each hole then take the bolts and weld them in place. The bolts dont transfer power anyways right? Its only got to last me 500 miles. It needs to be out of the shop on Wednesday and I have to drive it. This fix will only be temp.
