Stemmed eye shock mount???
« on: Dec 13, 2006, 04:29:44 PM »
I just ordered the all pro rear suspension lift as well as the solid axle swap kit.  The guy at all pro told me that I would need a stemmed eye shock mount for the rear.  I cannot find this part online anywhere.  If anyone knows where I can find one, or if this goes by a different name please let me know.

Call All-Pro, since they told you that you would need it they would probably know where to get them.

Don't take this too personally, but you just bought an SAS kit and lift from the competition and then came here for advice. This is why there are so many very loyal Marlin Crawler customers. Good tech advice and they have givin us this forum to learn more from each other. Next time, I recomend buying from Marlin.
I second the advice already givin though. Call allpro, find out what they are talking about. I haven't heard of anyone using that style shock mount, but that doesn't mean that they aren't. They should be able to answer the question quickly for you.
I checked their site and couldn't find any info on how their shocks mount.
By the way....welcome to the board.

Well Marlin Crawler does sell some All-Pro products so I just thought maybe the two companies were some how affiliated with one another...guess not.  Thanks for the welcoming.

Since nobody seems to know about this shock mount, would anybody give some info on what type of upper rear shock mount you use?

Most people use shocks that have the same mount on both ends. Bushing style with bolt perpendicular to shock shaft. (like the pic of the bottom mount)
Some people continue to use the factory mounts, but many relocate the upper shock mounts to the cross member directly above the axle. (like this /\)This allows for more articulation without the shocks binding or having to be as long. In this case, many of the shocks come with a mount designed to bolt on, but could also be welded too.
(if you look close on the pic of the rear you can see the inverted V mounted shocks)

FYI, Marlin Crawler doesn't sell allpro stuff, allpro sells Marlin Crawler stuff or rip offs of.

That pic of the front actuall shows one of the mount studs facing the camera. It's setup for dual shocks but the front one isn't on.

Yup, as long as everything is lined up and not binding in any way.
