I'm not a musician...I'm a guitar player.

I don't play much now days. I'm down to just one guitar. A 1st gen mexi-Strat with an American trem and Duncan Antiquity pick ups. I have a Fender Blues Deville amp. My pedal board has power, wah, Tube Screamer and a few other goodies.

Southern rock, blues based stuff and what ever has struck my fancy over the years.

Awsome I would get some effects, but I am saving up for a toyota. My amp is tubed so I wouldnt need a tube screamer.

Not true...my amp is tube also. The dirt box just overdrives the amp and gives it a little edge. Knock off the box and play rhythm and hit the box on for lead work. A tubescreamer gives better sustain without sounding like an old Electroharmonix buzz box. It's a lot easier to get some nice violin-like sustain. But, if you're a shredder or into speedmetal the Tubescreamer wouldn't be your first choice.
I've done a few mods to the tone controls on my guitar and my weewah pedal too.

been playing for around 8-9 years now.

I play an Ibanez RG-570, Mex Fender strat, Fernandez strat. Sigmaguitars accoustic, yamaha accoustic, epiphone accoustic. Line 6 amp with 2 12's, have a marshall half stack that I loop into the Line 6, and a Fender princeton chorus amp for the strats.

I dont play as much as I used to but the occasional jam session is always fun.

Everything from Metal to Jazz...

Maybe we need to wire up the Rubicon or Moab for the next round up. Jammin' is a hoot!

I can't play acoustic...it's a whole 'nother world.

I say bring the amps and take over a local bar!

Duffil

Yeap.  6 years, on and off.  2 customized, self-built basses, and acoustic and my Epiphone Thunderbird.  I've got an Acoustic 750watt amp pushing a 4x15 cab for gigs, and a Carvin 100watt 1x12 combo for playing here at home.  Haven't played much in the last 1 1/2 years or so , though.

Rainer

Awsome some guitar players on here. Abnormaltoy, so a tube screamer would help some. I dont play speed metal so it could help. I usually play for like 2 hours a week so I dont play that often either. Yes i love jam sessions. Duffil THat amp is huge 4-15s. Mine has 4-12s and it is loud as hell. I am looking into a peavey Valve KIng with 2-12s.

Anybody play a twelve string? It is so fun.

Ahh, you didn't notice that I play Bass, though. If I played guitar, I'd have 12s.  Lotta bass guys run 'em as well, but I like the rumble of 15s. It's not as bad as you would think...as long as you dont turn it up too far.

Rainer

Oh I did read that, but I guess I thought you played the guitar too. My bad. Yeah my friend plays bass and has 15s.

My amp goes to ten and I play it somewhat loud on 3 and it rimbles my floor. I wonder what 8-10 is like.

It is, of course, up to you and your ears. When I started playing (1970!!!) I bought allthe stomp boxes, that are now "vintage" finds, couldn't use them. I ended up buying them again years (decades) later for ten times the money, but now I've figured out what works for me. You have to adapt your playing style somewhat to use them...but you should also only use an effect where it "fits". For example, I prefer the tight sound of 4x10 speakers in my amps. Play with the knobs and settings, if it works buy it.

I love to play the acoustic as much as the electric. I especially like 12 string acoustics.

Hah!

I started playing an electric (tuned to an E chord...slide). I've never owned an acoustic. Hell, when I was learning there were no "Hair Band" ballads to cop. At my house I was Blue Oyster Cult (needs more Cow Bell) at one end of the hall and my brother was John Denver (Far Out!) at the other...I won, I had ampage!
