T-case help.
« on: Nov 13, 2006, 06:55:08 PM »
Ok I have my flame suit on.   This may sound stupid, but if I want to upgrade my gear box to a 23 spline setup what do I need to do to the tranny?

Thanks!

:headscratch: you want to put a chaindrive case behind your geardrive as the 2nd unit in a dual setup?  I would assume just for the 2.57:1 instead of 2.28:1?  As far as I can tell, you would just need the MC-10.  I'll see what Blackdog has to say on the matter.

That chaindrive case is a BIG sucker, though...

in the MC10  you would just need to specify  a 21 spline to 23 spline

Well I have 2 of the v6 t-cases, one off a 5 speed, and one off a auto.  I am running a the 2.4L with tranny stated above. I was going to order a 4.7 gear set, but I was made a sweet deal on the mc10  to have a dual set up and I can still regear my 4cyl gear box later..

I would assume that the v6 case is a 23 spline??  I know that my 4cyl stuff is all 21.

:dunno: I'm not really sure.  I didn't have to do anything with my tranny, but then again, I've got the r150, the 6cyl tranny, so it is already designed for a 23spline input

All W56's have a 21 spline output.
There is no adapter available to bolt a 9 bolt right hand drive [88-95], or a 8 bolt left hand drive [96 and newer] chain drive case with a 23 spline input directly to back of a W56 21 spline 6 bolt transmission with out a dual case and a MC10 adapter.
Hope this helps.....

so I cant have the back of my 4cyl t-case at a 23 spline the the input on the front at 21?  If that is the case The MC10 will not work for what I was going to do.

yes the MC10 adapter will come with a part that will replase the stock gear driven t/c's output shaft with a new 23 spline output shaft that gos onto chane driven imput shaft (23spline)

you can have this   the 23spline is stronger, but you should be fine with the 21
