if one would have the choice for roughly the same price what would u buy a 9000 superwinch or an 9000 tabor made by warn. just looking for opinions or experiences. sorry if this is in the wrong section

i got my warn m8000 for 300 bucks. All i did was check craigslist and tried to find cheap rangers or old trucks that had winches on them and call up the guy. I offered him some cash for just the winch and i got an awesome deal.

It's what the army uses. or used to use, I'm not sure harbor freight sells them under the chicago electric name from what i have heard. same winch

costco in canada carries the champion brand of winches. a lot of people have no problem but just too many do at worst of times.warranty is good but no good when youer stuck in a hole miles from anywhere

It is the EXACT same winch.  I found a truck at a PnP that had a winch bumper, no winch, and in the glovebox there was all the winch info in an envelope.  I knew about the HF one, so I took the stuff and compared it.  It is all the same

Mile Marker does make a GREAT winch, mines paid for its self a few times over.

i wouldnt buy a milemarker electric winch. ive heard to many horror stories of them not working and being slow. plus the military runs the hydralic ones. i run a ramsey rep 8000. it pulls my toyota awesome and is identical to a warn. if im in the market for another winch im only going to go with a ramsey or warn. i want to know its going to work when i need it.

I have never had a problem with my mile marker.  True, they aren't the fastest, but they get the job done.

I've also got a Mile Marker. My biggest complaint is that the drum seems to be too small for the amount of cable provided, you've really got to keep an eye on it when pulling even a straight pull. Yes it is slow, but I can wait.

haha, a friend that works a 4WP.... lol, i think that syas it all......

Our local 4WP had a sign that said "We install everything we sell".. i was going to do an soa, and wanted to by spring perches, guess what? when i asked, they said oh we dont do welding here, why would you need to weld that? when you bolt it to the axle, it will hold it on...

i turned around and walked out

say that when you've got a hydro locked engine (or equivelent) and your trying to pull a completely dead truck up over big rocks. Its like a 4000lb anchor. You'll utilize a snatch block and then some off that 8000 lbs, so to say 8000lbs is enough... all depends on your situation.

Yes mile markers are good winchs, I used to own a 8000lb MM. Only thing I didn't care for is that they depend on gear reduction instead of horse power so the winch pulls really well but also pulls REALLY SLOW. They start having problems once you get them in the water as well (or atleast I did)  within the first 2 weeks of using it the controler would intermittantly work/not work..

I may try a tabor next time just for the heck of it, they seem well priced.
