and this is where we are at now. the motor mounts are welded in, motor in place, floor board clearanced for theearly model trans, and lookins for designs to build a trans crosmember with what we have. I want to build a crossmember that will allow us to instal a crawler later on, seeing as how he doesnt hve the dough for it yet.

We had it all but welded up. After me gripeing about the 2nd tranny choice(l43) going boom and the really slow progress he decided it wasn't worth wile. Atleast I know that he wants lower gearing, seeing as how he was willing to put all this work into the trans thing.

It is the only trans besides mine that we have with a removeable bell housing, thats why I griped so much about it. I could hear the metal twisting and chunks flying in my head. The rad is yours next time we meet up, just have that rear axle ready. I will have a collection of trans ans transfer cases for marlin too.  We have a few spare manifolds, but now he has to spring for an exhaust gasket. Mabye he  can pimp his self out for some cash.

Shoot Glen, I wish you would have said something because I had three or four Toyota first gen. radiators I just gave away! Let me know next time, if you need something like that!

I have a couple 1st gen radiators too, but its the v6 rad he is interested in. Glen have you felt well enough to install the stuff you got a few weeks ago? :dunno: I have some stuff to make your sliders from too, just have to figure out how to bend it. I might check on a price for a new die for the bender.

I'm gonna start with some freebies that were donated to the build. 1st pic is some plate steel and some tube. 2nd pic is some square for a driveshaft and some misc flat stock and a wierd shape pice. Also there is a core battery and some new free cable for the winch. There are no concrete plans for most of the steel but I'm shure we will come up with something. Man I love free!

I wish you were closer to me to share some of that steel!

Let the carnage begin! Burn it! (Steel, that is....)

There is so much there I don't even know what to do with it all. Most will probably just rust away, Mabye build a trailer. I have to store this stuff somewhere.  We had to cut it out of 5x10foot sheets just to get it all home. We plan to build his entire exocage out of 7 sticks(free) of pipe 20+ foot long. We will even be using the bender at his work if we can.

Whats wrong with the frame? Are you gonna lift the bed to match the body lift?

i want to do whatever i need todo to install the larger  tank i have from a 86 truck
i think im going to  trimm  the bottom of the bed,  OR  chop the bottom off so the floor of the bed stays  low

A flatbed might be more functional for the way you use your truck. Something with some sides so you don't have to tie stuff down.

My bro in law is useing the torch where he works. Its a natural gas torch and doesnt smell as bad as acetlyne. It doesnt seem to heat the metal nearly as much as acetlyne either. The cuts look kinda swiss cheasy but itl work. :dunno:

Oh yea I got some bad news too   The pipe bender we were gonna use ....well it aint gonna happen. I know he aint got the money(christmas time) to buy the tube that my bender can bend.  So anyway I don't know what gonna happen now. We need the front clip to mount the battery and engine accessories. This thing might have to be put on the back burner again.
