this is my brother-in law's build. I hope he will chime in but if he doesn't I will keep it updated. We hope to have it done in time for a new years wheeling trip to flat nasty, with mabye some local outings first to work out some bugs. He bought this truck from a salvage yard for $250 I think, origonally a v6, five speed, loaded, but no drivetrain

here are some pics of it stock(camera phone)

Starting the sas and 4-link all done for free or cheap.  Low steer crossover but no pics becouse I don't in any way recomend it.

After installing a 4.3 350 turbo combo he decided to ditch the heavy pig and go toyota 22r instead and this is where we are now. He bought an 85 long bed and we just removed the motor and the 85 harness is already installed into the 94. Here are some pics from today.

no should I have? Do you really think so couse at 39'' upper and 48'' lowers it can't be all to bad. We could have flexed it alot more, but the springs were falling out of our custom buckets. That is something we still have to finnish. :smack:

They are mounted way under the cab, we may even have to clearance the cab or bump stop the uptravel. We shortened the wheelbase to 112 after moving the front foward about 3''-3.5''. I think the origonal wheelbase was like 120'' or somthing. I think I have some more pics.

The crossmember may need to be modded now that we will be installing the early toyota powertrain, but It would have worked with the 4.3/350turbo/combo that we were planning. Mabye now I can talk him in to doubling the t-cases. He will be riding shotgun this coming weekend (10-12). :driving: After returning from our trip we will be fitting the new motor and building a custom trans crosmember.

After we get this one wheeling and all the bugs worked out, or at least livable I am gonna link mine in the rear. I would like to link the front and rear of mine ,but don't want it down for that long and may save that idea for yet another project. These things may find a stopping point but there is always something going on.

When you link yours you should do a detailed right up with step by step photos and specs. I understand the lengths and such will be different but it would be cool to have a reference thread for people that want to link the rear but don't know where to start. It doesn't really look all that complicated. Nice job so far  :beerchug:
If you still have control you aren't going fast enough

Its really not all that dificult, just a little math and alot of compromise. I won't be doing any detailed right ups. I have a hard enough time makeing sentances, I couldn't imagine trying to explain justify and clearify for others to understand.

updates coming, soon yall are gonna hate us!

I think the main word you have said is compromise.  It takes a lot that to link a suspension and a lot of mock up.

We put alot of time into this link setup and still don't know how well he is gonna like it till we get the drivetrain finnished. Everything looks good though minimal rear stear ect.. ect..

I'm gonna start with some freebies that were donated to the build. 1st pic is some plate steel and some tube. 2nd pic is some square for a driveshaft and some misc flat stock and a wierd shape pice. Also there is a core battery and some new free cable for the winch. There are no concrete plans for most of the steel but I'm shure we will come up with something. Man I love free!

And now on to the toyota!

We started to make an adapter to run dual transmissions, then after wasting too much time with it, scrapped the idea. :attention:

then we pulled the smog stuff off the motor and found a crack in the exhaust manifold.

then we hooked up the 82' 5 speed and 79'tcase to the 8? (tall deck) 22r.
