most likely  its set  for the tbelt light to go off at  a set mileage,  did the odometer just turn over  80,000 ??  100,000??

That's for a diesel I believe.  I know the timing belt lights on the diesels do go on at a certain mileage or if there's a problem.  Pm Bazzi, he's running a 2lt/te I believe.  Finding a gasser toyota in aussieville would be hard to do it seems!

Don't cry glen, I see more of them by you than me.  You can fetch more for an old diesel than a clean first gen 4by sometimes, even though they're the same year.  A lady at work asked me about buying my 2wd toyota friday, and if I could get enough I might be able to snag another diesel when it pops up

The odometer doesnt work on the cluster anyhow. the light just popped on one day and scared the heck out of me. I thought my chain was on the fritz or something, lol.  the cluster reads 130458.
