So I recently picked up a v6 3rd member for my 85 pickup. It has 5.29 gears and a brand new arb locker it is not high pinion. So my question is Trail gear has a high pinion conversion kit., now what would that kit need from the 3rd member I have??? And would I be able to use the remaining 3rd member case and gears in the rear with the parts left over...???

Your Going to need a completely different gear set. The High Pinion is a reverse cut so you will need a High Pinion gear set. Set up kit would be the same. ARB would be the same as well. You would be able to put a V6 housing in the back of your truck no problem.

Be careful with the HP kit. I bought one and could not get a good pattern on set up. Turned out the housing was defective. The one I got in the kit was cheesy looking.

The replacement they sent me under warranty was of better quality. It was heavier and had better hardware. I don't know if the kits have a cheaper unit or if I just got a bad one. The rest of the kit had quality parts.

I never set up the replacement so I can't comment on it. I got a used OEM housing while waiting for the warranty and sold the TG one.

thanks for the insight I really appreciate it... seems like the local junk yard is getting quite a few 4runners in it lately so I'm gonna try and grab a OEM housing just in case... as long as I can get to it before anyone else... seems like that's the first thing people grab off the 4runners...

What 4runners would I look for to get a hp housing?

No 4runners never came with HP thirds. Your going to want to look at the front diff of a 91-97 toyota landcruiser. Or buy a brand new housing from yukon gear.
