The times Ive gone out with friends in snow, Ive been at 13, lowered to 10, then to 8. The deeper it got the lower we went. But thats for the stuff round here in WA.

I usually wheel in the snow around 2-4 PSI.  I'm currently running 37x14.50x15 Toyo MT's on 15x12 MT Classis II rims.  I don't have beadlocks and so far haven't losted a bead.  Most of the guys i wheel with have the Toyos now and used to have Gumbo's.  With Gumbo's they pulled the core out many times and ran with no air without beadlocks.

I'm really suprised you bogger do "good" in the snow.  I have a set of 39.5x18x15 boggers and they absolutely suck in the snow.  I had them on my 83 toy and I lost a bead REALLY fast.  my 38 TLS I had were even worse. I lost 2 beads in 30 feet of each other.

boggers suck because they just start to dig.  they have really stiff sidewalls and have no sidehill traction.  When and if they float it is so easy to just start digging down.

And in regards to you BFG's dude you can go WAY lower with BFG's I've never had a problem airing mine down to around 3-4 without beadlocks.

for boggers to be worth anything in the snow they must be cut AND they must be broken in.  once that has happend they fully rock  in the snow. and become one of the best snow tires ive ever used  iroks and baja claws..  gumbo mudders  work very well.  toyos i was not impressed with in the least bit.    mt/rs are ok but ive seen better tires ( i used to run them.. and im glad i dont anymore)

but  once you get a truely broken in tire   i usually run about 3-4 psi all the time.. no beadlocks i just run the correct rim.

The best snow traction I've ever had in my two years of snow wheeling is with 37" MTRs on 10" wide wheel with beedlocks at 2psi.

Now I've got some 37x13.50 Pitbull ROCKERS so I will see how they do in the snow this season. I've been told that the don't self-clean and just turn into four large snow balls.

Just waiting for some snow to test em out for the first time.

yeah they suck at high pressure but when ur at like 1-2 psi and going slow the foot print just floats good. i have no problem on the sled trails and runnin the lakes with a few feet of snow under me.  i know they suck for traction on bare ice. hehe fun 4wd driftiin..   


yeah i like where it snows 80% of the year and below 0 C for about 85% of the year haha..

The best snow tire I know of is a 38x15.5 r15 radial gumbo mounted on 15 inch wide beadlocks aired down from 0-4. The more side wall the better. Ive personally run 35 mtrs and really like them alot. I drove gotrocks rig with the toyos and was really impressed with them also. Boggers suck theyve been run side by side with the gumbos and are poopy. My friend ran 35 bfgs and those also did really well.

I run something around 6 psi as soon as I get to the snow but in softer and more challengin cyrcumstances I run 2 psi but then I try not to go over 80 km/phour.

thanks for saying that snowrunner.  We do A LOT of snow wheeling around here and thats what most of the guys do, period. It is funny to go up with guys who think they know how to wheel and have the perfect tires try to keep up with us.

Let's see, in my '83 mini truck, I ran 35x14 boggers grooved and a bit more worn in the middle than the sides on a 10" steel wheel. Ran them @ 4 up front and 2 in the back. They were sick in the snow. I believe the added wear down the middle allowed them to float a bit while the outer part of the lug kind of paddled the tire along.

Then I ran a 36 SX on Hummer wheels. No grooving, 3 psi in front and 2 in back. If I was crawling, they did pretty well but too narrow for full on assaults.

On the Cruiser, last season I ran 38x16 TSLs grooved and siped on 10" AL wheels. Ran them @ 2 up front and 0 in the back. Never lost a bead. They did decent but the Cruiser's short wheelbase (88") didn't allow it to really get on top of the snow.

This season I'm on 42" TSLs, grooved, on another set of Hummer wheels. I'll be running probably 2 up front and 0 in the back again but the stretched wheel base (109") I'm suspecting will allow me to get on top better. Hopefully find out in a few weeks.

last year i ran my cut 36x12.5x15 tsl sx's on an 8" wheel with now bead locks and was running 4-6 psi this year i have bead locks so i plan on running 1-3 psi

I run my 37" MTRs with no beadlocks at 6 or so psi.

37" MTRs never went below 10 psi or so (scared to go lower without OBA, prolly could have, but 10 worked) 

35" BFG MTs 5-6psi

both on a 15x8 wheel, no beadlocks. 

I haven't done much snow wheelin, (can't keep my truck running long enough ) but I've always just aired down to where they stopped sinking, sometimes 15psi, sometimes 6psi

Gumbo's  too bad they are not making them anymore. Well sometimes, inventory is scarce nowadays. and they are the same as richard cepeks. i am surprised nooone has mentioned the infamous 38 15.5 fun country.
