My buddy and I went out to test my Tow rig tonight and see how fast we could get its 0-60 time.  6.31, Thats right a low 6 to 60.  Thats faster than my dads Audi TT and its A6 2.7t (a twin turbo v6).  These are times from my Superchip Flashpaq Tuner and so I imagine they are very accurate.  We did some 1/4 mile runs as well.  I can run a 1/4 mile at 15.41 and a 1/8 miles at 9.2 at 78 MPH.  My 60 foot is even a 2.1 sec. at 33 MPH.

I just think its pretty cool  because my truck has 37's with 3.73 gears.  All the mods that I've done are a full straight turbo back exhuast and a AFE cold air intake, and programer.

 I could not be more differant. 1/2 ton ram , 360V8, 4.56 gears 38 tires and wont get out of its own way for a tow rig.  At least my yota is slower!

What motor? I miss my 7.3 Power Stroke, I don't think this V10 has near as much power.  :smack:

We have the same mods on our 7.3 6spd and it will roll 38's on dry pavement, faster than most cars i've driven.

its got the new 6.0 Powerstroke.  I'll admit it hasn't been the best powerstroke that Ford has made but when its running perfect it flat out halls.  Olivedrab I remember how we were talking about your truck down at the roundup.  I for some reason didn't see it but I'd like to sometime.  I don't know if you remember but my turbo was acting up on me when we were driving down there and after I got back Ford had to change the turbo and replace a intercooler boot.  Now its WAY better.  My fuel milage went back up and I got back my power that I had lost.  Pretty much my truck was running on all motor for the trip and I didn't have any power

WM I will agree I think the v10 suck.  I'd take a 7.3 powerstroke anyday before a gas motor.

We had a brand spankin new (at the time) 03 2500HD GMC Sierra with the 6.0 gas motor and that truck absolutely sucked.  I towed once with it on flat highways and only got 4 MPG towing my Jeep on a flat bed.  After that trip I convinced my dad that he should've listened to me in the first place and just bought a Diesel truck.  Now we couldn't be happier.

You haven't lived till ya drove the Duramax!  I thought the powerstroke was cool!  I think they have way more power!  Buddy ordered one with a 6 spd tranny, and we were pulling Santiam pass between Salem and Bend in 5th gear and still doing 70+!  They go from 60 to 98 faster than ford!
Miss ya Dean (4THEWKN) & Kyle (KYOTA)!!

4THEWKN~9/17/2006  If it wasn't for you, I'd be driving something other than a Toyota!

well a friend of ours has a 05 Duramax and I'm not impressed at all to be honest.  I've driven it quite a bit and towed with it even.  I still think my Superduty pulls better and has a better pull than his Duramax.  I'm not trying to bash on GM product because my family has always owned GM vehicles but I just think that if you want a real truck buy a Ford or Dodge.  And besides IFS is for cars not trucks.  Give me a good ol D60.

X 2 I've worked for GM for four years and still drive a ford, I think the d max is a good motor with small mods you can make an old 7.3psd out run it. Plus D60 front, leather, 6spd manual.  :dunno:

Yea I was parked in placerville at the KOA. That sucks you guys drove along way having a bad turbo. Sounds like you got it all handled, was it still under warranty?

x3  wait I'm agreeing with myself as well

that's a fassst powerstroke you have there gotrocks, just a bit slower all around than my regular short bed 2wd hemi ram, you are wayyyy heavier so your a fast ass diesel.  I have a friend with an 01 cummins on 35's and he runs 12.2's in the 1/4 with no spray. It's fun to go get his truck all muddy then go race wrx sti's and stuff and destroy them in a blume of black smoke.

I thought that only the 350's with the dual rear wheels came with the 60. (you may have a dually... I don't know.) otherwise you had to get a f450 to get a D60.

The guy at randy's told me it was a 60 when I bought gears.

I think that the center section (carrier) is, but the shafts neck down to the same diamater (sp) as a 44 at the yolk, hence the Dana 50. Not really a 60, but more than a 44.

:dunno: doesn't really matter to me in a tow vehicle, its a solid axle cheap and easy to lift.

it is a D60 I garentee it on mine.  The earlier Superduty's had a D50 (from 99 to 02) and in the new 03 they put a real D60 up front of the F250's.  As far as I know all the F250-F350 SD are now standard with the D60's and the 10.5 Sterling rear.
