I have removed the auto tranny and am swapping in a w56 5spd (engine is a 22re).

What do i need to do with the wiring. My search has turned up that I need to do something with the nuetral safety in order for the engine to start. Can someone tell which one is the nuetral safety?

Is that all I need to do?

I'm documenting this process with pics and will be doing a detailed write-up since it seems more and more folks are doing this swap.

The following two pics show the 5 plugs that connected to the Auto Tranny

These two pics show the wiring coming off the 5spd. (note on the top pic at the bottome the three red wires)

Hey I just did this swap, its pretty easy. the wire u are looking for are is under the hood on the pass. side its down near the motor mount. I just spliced the wire right before the harness under the hood. the bottom pict is the wire for the reverse, i think. Wait what year truck is this? Just follow the under the hood wire or you can look at the haynes maniel for the wiring diagram. it will tell you the colors. to splice

I looked today on my 88 and I spliced the black and white wires.
