iguana needs serious armor.

well, I am finally home after what seems like the longest rubi trip ever.  drew is still in meeks bay awaiting a trailer, colby and i headed out at 1 today and just got back, serious construction on 80 and 20.  i had a blast until stuff started breaking then it went to hell real fast.

after breaking the transfercase housing, bending the pass front leaf, shearing the drivers side front centerpin, and both the inner and outer chromo shafts on the pass side  we headed to the springs just in time to miss the raffle, so being loosened up we headed down to the 'wall'.  after much heckeling from kyle i tried the wall and walked right up in no problem, so i diceided to try again, admist turning around to try again i broke the pitman arm adapter, so i left it there and dicided to ride with kyle out, drive the road back to loon, get the tow rig and drive back, so we headed out from the springs at like 1am wheeled to within 30 sec of the staging area and sheared all 4 studs off kyles pass side knuckle, so we camped out until morning, meanwhile my cousin is trying to round up someone to fix my pitman arm adapter and then wheel my truck out.  soooo, morning comes and we start asking people wheeling out for parts, but 330pm sunday we have enough parts and have fixed the problem, so we hit the road headed back to loon.  somwhere on 50 we come around a corner to see a car flipped on its roof just comming to a stop against the sholder and people running to his aid, so we stop and make sure there isnt anything we can do, he was fine, so we head oneward.  make it to ice house where the guy following us runs out of fuel, so his passenger hops in the back of kyles truck and we keep going, somwhere near the wentworth springs T we get pulled over for someone in the back, no liscence plate ( it had fallen off and was thrown in the back) and kyles liscense was expired, soo, fortunately the officer let us go as long as kyles gf drove the rest of the way, so finally about dark sunday evening i got to my tow rig and headed back to the end of the runicon where eveyone was comming out.  at about 930 i roll around a corner to see my truck, towning drews truck and beau's truck right next to is, finally after 24 hours we finally renuited with eveyone.  turns out colby was able to get Marlin over to weld up the pitman arm adapter sometime around noon, then hit the trail with drew and beau in the biggest traffic jam in history.  finally they all got out.  after dicided that it was too late, and we were too tired to drive home colby, drew and i rented a cabin in meeks bay for the night ($50) while beau and his passenger headed home because they had to work in the morning. so, we took a shower, and slept for 12 hours!!  luckily for drew when his timing chain went it didnt destroy anything else and hell be able to get that fixed pretty easily.

for me, i have a lot of work ahead of me, i need a new spring, center pin, xcase housing, new axles, going full hydro, and building a skidplate so none of this happend again.  should be ready to go by next weekend :P

also i had to leave some stuff at the box because we ended up going out through the end instead of going back down the trail.  im missing a bag of clothes, 2 cots, 2 sleeping bags, blakets, a dog bed, and a large water jug.  it was located up high on the slap above the box, if anyone picked these up i would like them back.  PM me please.

other than that, it was a AWESOMELY GREAT trip!

No, the air shocks are good right now.  i will be linking the front when i do the fullwidth swap during winter.  i want to go coil overs instead of air shocks for the front.

Ramrod

I got them for $430 brand/pair new with the dual rate hardware and replaceable billet ends.  I think they'll look great in the front fenderwell of my truck

Ramrod

thats the price shipped and everything btw

Sluice Box Hero

yeah, well, i scored a D60. . . .so HA!

im also thinking about linking the front and rear and flatbellying before next summer.  should a save up for air shocks, or just yard sale it with the coils and shocks. . .

4runnin_87

just read the build...this a nice rig man...keep it up

Ramrod

im trying!! its falling apart more and more everyday.  I noticed yesterday I have a broken centerpin in the front and all my tres I bought from trailgear 6 months ago are already shot and my diamond is dented and leaking

Doof

are the tires trashed just from driving or are they  :pokinit:  tires?

Ramrod

tre- tire rod ends. they are garbage.  I have 2 on the truck still that are 3 years old from skys that are fine the other 2 from tg are trash

Doof

haha my bad.... and that is still shitty cause it now makes more sense to me

Doof

just read all 22 pages in about two days inbetween class and after work before bed i think im a lil  :willynilly: from reading that much wth all thats going on....

how is that frnt axle holding up?

Ramrod

hasnt flinched since the last trip.  bobby said the backlash wasnt tight enough on my r & p

Ramrod

just got my coilovers in the mail and ive never had a coil over in my hand before but these things are rediculous.  Huge.  2.5" and the resi is like a foot long.  I think this truck is gonna morph more into somthing like that ranger exteme 4x4 built

thats sick dude those coilovers are going to be badass in the front.

Steve97TJ

Ive never ridden in a rig with coilovers but i heard its ridiculously better then coil springs or leaf springs. I plan on running coilovers when i go fullwidth with my heep.

Nice build. I read the whole thing the other day.

Ramrod

ya hopefully it rides pretty cherry.  right now the springs all around are pretty sacked out and it rides like :pokinit:.  Tons of axle wrap, brake dive, body roll and sway and wierd noises.  Right now I kinda dont know what to do, I cant decide if I wanna buy a 4runner as a dd for like $1500 or spend $600 on some new 35's for my taco and hope I even use them for a few months till I get a 4runner anyways and just run the 40s all the time. I dont know I imagine i'll still take the taco on long trips after I get another dd just because of the power

Yota4life

wow sounds like my truck but heavy and super slow! I think my motor is going to blow up now too. I thinks its a good reason to do a 3rz swap. Ya? I say get some 35s before you kill your 40s driving it everywhere.
