OK, well that is not really what I was asking so I will be more specific.

What do you do with your "tuned for E85 rig" when you take a road trip and there is no E85 available?

:gap: All the modern "flex fuel" cars I know of will run on both...hence the flex. I don't know what you would do if you've re-jetted or have a car set up to run specifically on E85.

I always knew taxes played a big part of the cost of gasoline.  I think it says so on the pumps around here.  Interesting that nobody in politics, either party, is talking about that.

What I find interesting about that article is it rightfully points out that democrats blame oil companies.  However, it neglects to mention, as I said above, that nobody from either party is talking about gas taxes.

Really? I'll have to look and see if they are brave enough to say on the pump. Most of the taxes we pay are hidden. Just think what an uproar there would be, if instead of payroll withholding...you had to come up with a lump-sum payment for your Federal taxes or even pay them quarterly. Somebody would be hung by their ballocks.

What do you do with your "tuned for E85 rig" when you take a road trip and there is no E85 available?
My MR2 (the one running E85) seldom leaves town.  Last summer I was running half E85 and half E10.  I had a weekend event in Medford (170 miles away).  I filled up the tank with half and half on the way out of town and took a six gallon jerry can of E85 along for the ride.  When it was time to refuel, I mixed the E85 with pump gas.  That was enough to get me through the weekend and back home with the same fuel mix.  This year I will have to pack a little extra fuel, but I bet I can get there and back on E85 if I fill the tank and pack six or eight extra gallons.  if not, I will have the laptop with me and can reprogram it for gasoline.  And that's about as far as I ever get from home in that car...

Understand that I am doing this because I choose to modify the car and make it work with either fuel.  It's an old car that takes either fuel because I can change the fuel tables with a few keystrokes.  If I did not have that ability, I would not even attempt the use of multiple fuel types like this.

$5 a gallon gas will put a hurt on the 4x4 industry, lots less parts being sold when people aren't out driving them, can't see why anyone would like that if they rely on them for a living.

i just filled up today it was $3.79 almost 60 bucks to fill the 4-runner up.....
when i was snow wheelin' in the winter it would cost me $45.00 to fill up.....

Dude, even $3/gal has greatly affected the industry. Just look at the businesses that are shutting down or have reached drastic last hopes of breath by selling parts on eBay and pedaling other businesses cheap parts!

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the media fuels recessions with paranoia.  At the slightest possibility of a down turn in the economy they start crying foul, flooding the news with *what could be* and *what might happen*, which plays on the minds of the weak willed and makes them think they need to stop spending money.  The media plays on negativity, it's their job.  But that's just my theory  :twocents:

I agree...unless there is a Democrat administration in power.

Week after week CNN has been pounding recession into the public mind...then yesterday, they have the bollocks to ask...Has the public gone overboard with it's recession fears!!! Talk about disconnect from reality!
